2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series Latest – Florida Panthers win 3-2 against the Nashville Predators
Florida Panthers had the honour of hosting the 650th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series which saw them play against the Bank Atlantic Centre. The match was played this Thursday with around 12,000 fans coming to witness the match. Both
teams had come across some recent successful and the match was expected to be a tight one which certainly turned out to be one with Florida Panthers winning by a slender margin of just one goal.
The score at the end of the match was 3-2 in favour of the Florida Panthers with Rostislav Olesz of Panthers named the player of the match for his important goal and an assist in the winning goal.
Florida Panthers started off the proceedings strongly as expected with thousands of fans cheering for them. Recently, they had problems with finishing and failing to score early. But this wasn’t the case this time out as Florida took the lead with the goal
scored by Radek Dvorak from a long range powerful strike in the 4th minute.
Florida Panthers continued to attack but in the middle part of the period, Nashville Predators started to respond to attacks as well. Pin point passing was the essence of their game which was rewarded by an equalizing goal in the 11th minute scored
by Colin Wilson.
The period saw both teams making a few more goal attempts but no more goals were scored as the period ended with the scores level on 1-1. During the period, Nashville Predators made 10 goal attempts while Florida Panthers made 13 goal attempts.
The second saw the Florida Panthers come out strong once but they didn’t involve all of their men in the attacks. There were several chances for both teams to take the lead but this time the finishing was poor. It looked as if a goal was going to be scored
surely but goal keepers also came up with good performances in the second period.
Florida Panthers attacked with full force as the period neared its end but it didn’t prove to be successful as the Predators defence was up to the task and didn’t give the opposition any space close to the goal. Nashville Predators also made attacks with
the period ending but they too couldn’t score as the period ended with the scores still level on 1-1. During the second period, Predators made 7 goal attempts while the Panthers made 11 goal attempts.
It took some time for the teams to get into their attacking mode when they finally did, couples of goals were scored. The first of which was scored by Nashville Predators in the 11th minute by David Legwand which silenced the crowd.
However, Florida Panthers was able to pile up shots and construct brilliant pieces of play which saw them levelling the scoring in the 14th minute through Rostislav Olesz. Florida Panthers continued to press on and with Rostislav Olesz’s assist
Florida took the lead with the final touch from David Booth.
The goal proved to be the winning goal as Florida Panthers emerged as 3-2 winners of the match making 10 goals in the final period compared to 12 goal attempts of the Nashville Predators.
