2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Los Angeles Kings face the Montreal Canadiens
The encounter which would only take place once during the course of the 2010-2011 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series is the Montreal Canadiens playing host to the Los Angeles Kings. The last time these two met was in the March 2010 that saw the Montreal
Canadeins win the game 4-2 after a very impressive performance. Brain Gionta and Benoit Pouliot were both on the score sheet on the night.
Both teams receive a great deal of boost and confidence from the fact that their goal keepers are rated among the best in the league. The goal keeper of the Los Angeles Kings, Jonathan Quick was very impressive during the course of the last season as he
successfully registered 39 wins which was a record for any Kings goal keeper in their history for the most number of wins during a single season.
On the other hand, the criticized goalie of the Montreal Canadiens, Carey Price has bagged excellent performances as he has played 20 games out of the 21 and recorded 12 wins which effectively ties him for the most number of wins in the season so far.
Jonathan Quick didn’t show the type of game expected from him this Monday as they lost to the Ottawa Senators 3-2. Quick is expected to be given rest during this game but will most definitely play a few minutes. But the few minutes he plays can undoubtedly
be the turning point of the match.
Coupled with all this is the fact that Los Angeles Kings are recently coming up with strong attacks and Ryan Smyth is emerging as a very strong attacking player for the side though his goal against the Senators was disallowed but he is expected to be a key
player if the Kings are to register a win this time out.
"I think all of us, we're going to have our opinion that it's a goal," Murray said. "Ottawa is going to have their opinion that it's not a goal. That's the way it goes. You'll get your calls sometimes. It will work the other way and, as they say, it comes
out in the end, so we'll just move on and get ready for Montreal."
The Los Angeles Kings have currently scored 26 points and have played 20 games. Out of the 20 games played they have lost 7 games and won 13. The Montreal Canadiens on the other hand have won 14 out of the 21 games and have scored 27 points losing 7 games
too.
Carey Price isn’t in the best of the form recently after the brilliant start he made to the season. Carey Price saw the opposition score thrice in the team’s last loss after they were sitting in a comfortable position with 2 goals to their advantage.
"We dominated the first period and it was the reverse in the second," Coach Jacques Martin said. "They dominated the second and took some momentum away and the third period continued by just getting pucks in deep and outworking us in our zone."
Justin Williams, if clicks for the Los Angeles Kings, can create a lot of damage but the Canadiens will be pleased to learn that he hasn’t been able to score a single point after the last three games.
