2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Los Angeles Kings win 6-4 against the Columbus Blue Jackets in a very tough and unpredictable match
The 622nd proved to be one of the most entertaining matches of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The match saw the Los Angeles Kings play host to the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Staples Centre with around 18,000 fans coming to witness the
match. The match was very entertaining for the fans but the final period turned out to be goals fiesta and saw the Los Angeles Kings win the match 6-4 in the end. Jarret Stoll of the Los Angeles Kings was the player of the match for the two goals he scored
during the match.
Both teams were evenly matched during the course of the first period but Los Angeles being more productive of the two teams emerged as big winners of the period.
From the start shots flew from everywhere on the pitch out of which Dustin Brown’s quick fired shot found the back of the net in the 3rd minute and put the Kings in the lead. Kings with strong and productive front line managed to double the lead
with Marco Sturm’s tip in shot in the 10th minute.
The dominating performance in period was marked with another goal in the 16th minute for the Kings scored by Jarret Stoll from a decent tip in shot. The Columbus Blue Jackets on the other hand failed to convert their chances which resulted in
them trailing 3-0 at the end of the first period.
During the first period Columbus Blue Jackets made 9 goal attempts while Los Angeles Kings made 11 goal attempts.
The second period followed the same roads with shots continuing to be fired from both sides. Los Angeles Kings extended their lead to four goals as Jarret Stoll scored once again in the 8th minute.
However, this time Columbus Blue Jackets managed to respond with a goal in the 14th minute with the goal scored by Matt Calvert. Both teams made 11 goal attempts each in the period and ended with Los Angeles Kings leading 4-1.
Columbus Blue Jackets started the third period on a high and cut the lead to just one goal a*s Rick Nash scored in the 7th minute followed by Fedor Tyutin’s goal in the 11th minute. It looked as if the Blue Jackets made a comeback but
Kings scored once again through Ryan Smyth from a tip in shot in the 17th minute.
With the scores on 5-3, Rick Nash scored once again in the very next minute to trail by one goal once again but Los Angeles Kings sealed the match scoring in the 18th minute through Justin Williams to win the match 6-4.
