2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series– Minnesota Wild defeat Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1
The 246th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series saw the Tampa Bay Lighting take on Minnesota on their home soil. The game was played at the St. Pete Times Forum this Sunday in front of 15,000 fans. This was the 16th game for
the Minnesota Wild while the Tampa Bay Lightning played the 17th game of their campaign.
The Tampa Bay Lighting were quick out of the blocks and they came up with brilliant pieces of play that often saw them in open positions. The home team couldn’t score much to the disappointment of the home crowd. They got themselves in open positions every
now and then but they couldn’t find the back of the net.
The Minnesota Wild on the other hand started to make attacks after the 6th minute. There attacks were as strong as the home team’s and they managed to take the lead with a goal in the 8th minute. The goal was scored by Cal Clutterbuck
through a flick shot during a power play.
The home team responded to this with a few good shots and levelled the score with a goal in the 12th minute during power play. The goal was scored by Martin St. Louis through a powerful strike that went flying into the net leaving the goal keeper
no chance of stopping it.
The Minnesota Wild made less attacks during the period but whenever they went forward they looked to score. This was the case in the 13th minute when they scored to regain the lead. The goal was scored by John Madden through a flick shot that
went into the right corner. The Minnesota Wild scored once again in the final minute to take the score to 3-1. The goal was scored by Antti Miettinen through a decent strike.
The Minnesota Wild went into the break leading as they made 6 goal attempts while the Tampa Bay Lightning made 16 goal attempts.
The 2nd period didn’t see any goals though both teams got numerous chances to score. The period ended with the score still 3-1 in favour of the away team. During the period, Minnesota Wild made 7 goal attempts while the Tampa Bay Lightning made
9 goal attempts.
The final period of the match saw Tampa Bay Lightning dominating the period but they were unable to score. The only goal in the period was scored by Minnesota Wild in the final minute of the match. The goal was scored by Eric Nystrom through a flick shot
that took the score to 4-1.
The match ended on the same score with Minnesota Wild making 5 goal attempts and the Tampa Bay Lightning 13 goal attempts.
