2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Montreal Canadiens bag their third win in a row 4-1 against the Ottawa Senators
Montreal Canadiens playing host to the Ottawa Senators was the 402nd game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The match was played at the Centre Bell Arena this Tuesday. There were around 21,000 fans who came to witness the match with the
Ottawa Senators playing the 29th game of the season while the Montreal Canadiens played the 28th game of the campaign.
The Montreal Canadiens exploded right from the start of the match, firing shots on the goal. The home team not only dominated the offence but their defence was rock solid. They didn’t let the opposing team get near the goal and restricted them to their half
only.
The home team had confidence and momentum in their favour. They capitalized from this and scored in the 10th minute to take the lead of the match. The goal was scored by Michael Cammalleri from a well placed flick shot.
The Montreal Canadiens continued with the attacking mentality they had opted for. They penetrated the opposing defence right till the end. Unfortunately for the home side were caught on a counter attack in the 20th minute which saw them losing
the lead.
The Ottawa Senators scored the goal through Nick Foligon from a decent strike. The period ended with no further action with the scores level on 1-1. During the course of the period, the Ottawa Senators made 6 goal attempts while the Montreal Canadiens made
13 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw the Ottawa Senators continue with the strong performance they put up at the end of the period. They attacked the opposing goal right from the start of the period.
There had everything; smooth plays, perfect passing and shooting, but they failed to scored during the period. The Montreal Canadiens also had their share of chances but they too couldn’t score and the period ended with the scores level on 1-1.
The final period started off in spectacular fashion as the home team scored in the 3rd minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Jeff Halpern from a decent strike.
Though the Ottawa Senators came up with the occasional shots but they couldn’t score during the final 20 minutes of play. However, the Montreal Canadiens scored another goal in the 11th minute. The goal was scored by Brian Gionta.
Montreal Canadiens continues to pile pressure on the away side and scored in the 17th minute to seal the match. The goal was scored by Roman Hamrlik from a brilliant tip in shot.
The match and the period ended with no further goals as the Montreal Canadiens won the match 4-1. During the final period the Montreal Canadiens made 13 goal attempts while the Ottawa Senators made 9 goal attempts.
