2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Montreal Canadiens host the Ottawa Senators
The Montreal Canadiens will be hosting the 401st game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series as they we will up against the Ottawa Senators this Tuesday. The two teams are scheduled to meet each other six times during the course of the season.
Out of the six meetings, this will be the fourth. The first two matches were won by the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 and 30 respectively. The third and most recent match on the 6th November saw the Ottawa Senators win the match 3-2.
Montreal Canadiens will be glad to know that their goal keeper Carey Price is in hot form bagging 16 win thus far and is in good shape ahead of the match. The Montreal Canadiens has been on a role recently as they have displayed some excellent skills on
ice. The Canadiens won 3-1 in their most recent match. The Montreal Canadiens were up against the San Jose Sharks in the match this Saturday displaying the strong attacking and defensive capabilities they had.
The Montreal Canadiens form was under question since there alternate wins and losses since 16th November. This Saturday after they beat the Sharks, the Montreal Canadiens was able to win two consecutive games for a long time.
After the match goal keeper Carey Price said, "It was a big test for us,"
Price said. "They're a really good hockey club and we wanted to bring a good performance because those are the types of teams you get measured against.”
"We wanted to try and get on a bit of a roll, it's been up and down. So getting two in a row is nice."
The table standing currently have the Montreal Canadiens sitting in a comfortable position with 36 points. The Montreal Canadiens have played 27 games so far out of which they have won 19 games. The Ottawa Senators on the other hand have played 28 games
so far. Out of the 28 games, they have won 14 games and have scored 26 points.
The Ottawa Senators was up against the New York Rangers this Sunday and was in terrible form as they managed to score only 1 goal in the last three matches they played. They were thrashed by the San Jose Sharks and the Buffalo Sabres. This Sunday they seemed
to be a completely different team as they attacked and defended with a lot of confidence as they won the match 3-1 against the New York Rangers.
Chris Kelly was the stand out player in the match has scored 3 goals in the match and said,
"I don't know if it was a big sigh of relief, but I think we definitely got looser and more confident," Kelly said of his shorthanded goal in the first period. "It was a good feeling. I thought we had great jump from the start and went from there.
I thought every line played well and all six D."
Ahead of the match, the Canadiens have their star player Mathieu Darche is in good form and has scored 2 goals. For the Ottawa Senators it is Chris Kelly who is in good form and scored a hatrick in his last game against the New York Rangers.
The match will surely be a very entertaining encounter. Added to this is the fact that the Montreal Canadiens have a great lead against the Ottawa Senators in terms of goal attempts after the first three games between the two teams.
