2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series– New York Rangers beat Florida Panthers 3-0 as expected
The 331st game of 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series saw the Florida Panthers play host to the New York Rangers at the Bank Atlantic Centre. The match was played this Friday in front of 17,000 fans.
The New York Rangers played their 24th game of the season while the Florida Panthers played the 21st game of their season.
The Florida Panthers were strong from the start of the match as they fired shots from everywhere. They didn’t let the New York Rangers settle which left the away side helpless at the start of the match.
However, the New York Rangers changed their strategy and started to attack more often. As a result their offensive mentality brought them closer to scoring. Their hard work and determination helped them scoring in the 11th minute of the period
to take the lead.
The goal was scored by Derek Stephan through a superb backhand shot that left the goal keeper with no chance of stopping it. The home side despite making numerous goal attempts fell behind. They continued to attack and a second goal was almost scored against
them but the goal keeper made a brilliant save.
The period ended with the New York Rangers leading 1-0. During the course of the period the New York Rangers made 5 goal attempts while the Florida Panthers made 15 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw both teams continue to attack. The difference this time was the fact that the away side was stronger on the offence and defence. The home side was restricted to fewer shots compared to the first period.
Both teams search for a goal continued during which some excellent pieces of play developed. However, much to the disappointment of the crowd no goals were scored and the New York Rangers still led 1-0 as the second period ended. The New York Rangers made
8 goal attempts in the period while the Florida Panthers made 9 goal attempts.
The New York Rangers took the game to the Florida Panthers in the final period. The bold decision made by the away side saw them coming close to scoring in the opening few minutes of the period.
The New York Rangers continued to attack even though the Florida Panther caught them on counter attacks a few times. The New York Rangers scored in the 6th minute to double their lead. The goal was scored by Ryan Callahan from a simple tip in
shot.
The New York Rangers pressure proved to be too much as they scored once again in the 15th minute to seal the match. The goal was scored by Brandon Prust from a flick shot.
The period ended with no further goals as the New York Rangers won the match 3-0. The final period of the match saw the Florida Panthers making 16 goal attempts while the New York Rangers made 6 goal attempts.
