2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series: New York Rangers win 3-0 against New Jersey Devils
New Jersey Devils played host to New York Rangers on November 5th, 2010 at Prudential Centre as part of the 179th game of 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. There were around 17,500 fans that came to witness the match as Rangers were
playing the 13th game while Devils 15th of their respective campaigns thus far.
The game saw the away team dominate the proceedings and keep a clean sheet. They scored 3 goals to clinch a 3-0 victory.
The home side was stronger of the two teams and had many scoring opportunities in the match but still couldn’t score. Rangers didn’t let this come to their mind and played their game. Although, they lacked behind in terms of goal attempts due to the strong
defence of the home team but still they looked confident at crucial moments.
This confidence and determination saw them score in the 8th minute of the 1st period to take the first lead. The goal was scored by Brandon Dubinsky via a simple flick shot from 21 feet. After taking the lead, Rangers didn’t take any
further risks and maintained a good and tight defence. Both teams went into the break with Rangers leading by 1-0.
In the 2nd period, some impressive ice hockey was on display by the two teams as they combined brilliantly leading to attacks. Neither allowed the other any space and they restricted each other to long range shooting. This was the reason why there
was no goal seen early on despite the fact that both teams maintained strong front lines.
However, Rangers were able to double their lead in the last minute of 2nd period. The goal was scored by Brain Boyle through a powerful strike from 53 feet during power play. The period ended with Rangers still leading by 2-0. The 2nd
period saw Rangers make 8 goal attempts while Devils made 12 such attempts.
The final period started in spectacular fashion for Rangers as their attacking approach paid off again as early as in the 4th minute and they scored to further strengthen their lead. The goal was scored by Brandon Dubinsky who bagged his second
of the night. After that the period didn’t see any more goals. The match ended with New York Rangers winning by 3-0.
The final period saw New Jersey Devils make 10 goal attempts while Rangers made 8 such attempts.
