2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Ottawa Senators win 5-2 against the Phoenix Coyotes 
The 119th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was totally dominated by the Ottawa Senators as they won the game 5-2 in another one high scoring encounter of Tuesday. The game took place at the Scotibank
Arena, home of the Ottawa Senators in front of around 17,000 fans. The game saw the Phoenix Coyotes play their 8th game of the regular season while the Ottawa Senators played their 9th game. The game was dominated
by the home team as they scored 3 goals in the opening period and 2 in the final period.
1st Period
The away team started off the match coming up with some decent pieces of play however failed to achieve their targets as there many scoring opportunities were missed.
Nonetheless, the home team had the momentum in their favour and fired shots regularly on the opposing goal.. The Ottawa Senators managed to take the lead in the 6th minute when they scored through Erik Karlsson
when he produced a 19 feet powerful shot that went flying past the goal keeper into the back of the net.
The home team scored once again as soon as play restarted. The goal was scored in the 6th minute once again with the goal scorer being Alex Kovalev who scored from a flick shot that was perfectly place in the top
right corner.
The home team was content on finishing the job in the first period as they scored in the 15th minute to take the score to 3-0. The goal was scored by Chris Kelly through a spectacular 7 feet backhand shot. The period
ended with no further goals as the home team scored 3 goals out of 20 goal attempts while the Phoenix Coyotes didn’t score any goals out of the 8 goal attempts they made.
2nd Period
The away team was more determined among the two teams to score a goal and they succeeded in doing so in the 5th minute. The goal that took the score to 3-1 was scored by Sami Lepisto from a powerful strike that
was hit from 50 feet.
The rest of the period didn’t see much happen during the period despite the fact that both teams came across numerous scoring opportunities. The period ended with the home team, Ottawa Senators still in the lead with the score on 3-1.
During the course of the period, the Ottawa Senators made 5 goal attempts and the Phoenix Coyotes made 11 goal attempts and scoring a lone goal.
3rd Period
The 3rd period started on a high for the Phoenix Coyotes as they came up with goal good pieces of play with decent goal attempts.
The Coyotes were successful in scoring in the 7th minute through a 17 feet powerful strike by Keith Yandle. The score was 3-2 in favour of the home team with Coyotes in with a chance of winning. However, the home
team put the foot on the gas and scored to take their lead to 4-2 with the goal scored by Alex Kovalev. The Ottawa Senators sealed the win they scored in the 16th minute. The goal was scored by Captain Daniel Alfredsson through a simple
tip in. the match ended with the Ottawa Senators winning the match 5-2.
"It's one of those games … finally, a little luck turned around and started going my way," Kovalev said. "It was definitely nice to get a couple of goals." 
"It feels better to get yourself going and start contributing to the team," Kovalev said. "We're not playing well lately, so it'd be nice to start a winning streak." 
"He didn't get any help. The first one was an empty net and then Kovalev has a great shot. The third one bounces off our guy and you can't do anything about that, but we've got to give him more help," said Coyotes captain Shane Doan, was
back in the line up after serving a three-game suspension for his blindside hit on Anaheim's Dan Sexton on Oct. 17. "We put ourselves in a position where we had to chase the game all night."
