2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Philadelphia Flyers win 3-2 against the New York Islanders

The New York Islanders playing host to the Philadelphia Flyers was the 391st game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The match took place at the Nassau Coliseum this Sunday in front of around 8,000 fans. This was the 28th game
of the season for the Philadelphia Flyers while the New York Islanders played the 25th game of the season.
The New York Islanders made a decent start to the match. The home team backed by the home fans was able to come up with decent attacks early on that saw them coming across a few scoring chances. The only problem with the home team was the fact that they
were unable to capitalize from the chance they got.
On the other hand, the away side started to come up with attacks too and as time passed their attacks started to become stronger. The away side’s constant and venomous shots resulted in them coming across numerous scoring opportunities. The Flyers successfully
scored in the 14th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Matt Carle from a simple tip in shot.
After the goal, both teams had more chances but they failed to score as the period ended with the Flyers leading 1-0. During the course of the period the Philadelphia Flyers made 8 goal attempts while the New York Islanders made 4 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw both teams absolutely explode at the start. The defence was given no importance as the home team wanted to score to level the scores while the away side wanted to scores once again to double the lead.
This resulted in the puck going up and down the pitch often. Both teams had numerous chances but they failed to score. Though there were tons of scoring chances but still no goals were scored during the 20 minutes of play.
The period ended with the Philadelphia still living on the first period’s lead of 1-0. The Flyers ended the period making 9 goal attempts while the New York Islanders made 15 goal attempts.
The final period was surely very tough and entertaining. Certainly this was the case as the home team managed to score in the 6th minute to level the score. The goal was scored by Jon Sim through a powerful strike. The match saw the home side
scoring once again to take the lead. The goal was scored by Frans Nielson through a brilliant flick shot.
After losing the lead, the away side put full force in their attack which resulted in them scoring in the 12th minute to level the score. The goal was scored by Andreas Nodl from a decent backhand shot.
The Flyers continued their search of another goal during which they dominated the period for good couple of minutes. The away side successfully scored in the 15th minute to take the lead once again. The goal was scored by Danny Briere from a flick
shot.
The period and the match ended with no further goals with the Philadelphia Flyers winning the match 3-2. The final period saw the Flyers making 10 goal attempts while the Islanders made 11 goal attempts.
