However, this was short lived because the home team grew in confidence as the period progressed and they started to come up with attacks and scoring opportunities too. The first goal of the match came in the 9th minute in favour of the Pittsburgh
Penguins. The backing of the home crowd seemed to work as Kris Letang’s shot found the back of the net. The goal was a result of a spectacular shot by the player from 8 feet. Though the home team continued to attack throughout the period but they couldn’t

However, it was the Philadelphia Flyers who scored to level the score. The goal was scored by Claude Giroux in the 6th minute through a spectacular backhand shot from close range. Being in the lead, the away team pressed on in search of another
goal. They worked hard but sometimes they were caught on a counter attack. But much to their relief, the home team didn’t score.
The hard work and constant attacks by the Philadelphia Flyers paid off as they took the lead in the 14th minute. The goal was scored by Daniel Carcillo through a simple tip in from 9 feet that went through the legs of the goal keeper. There were
a few more chances but the Philadelphia Flyers weren’t able to convert any of these chances into goals.

as the 11th minute when they took the score to 3-1. The goal was scored by Claude Giroux from a flick shot from 10 feet.
