2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Philadelphia Flyers win 5-1 against the Ottawa Senators
The Philadelphia Flyers played host to the Ottawa Senators this Monday on the 250th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The match took place at the Wells Fargo Centre, home of the Flyers in front of 20,000 fans as both the teams played
the 18th game of the campaign thus far.
The Philadelphia Flyers took full advantage of being the home team. The Flyers were the stronger of the two teams at the start of the match. The home team’s dominance and hard work was rewarded with a goal in the 9th minute by Danny Briere through
a simple tip in shot.
The away team was able to respond to this with goal attempts too. The Ottawa Senators were able to put the foot on the gas and level the score with a goal in the 11th minute. The goal came from Jason Spezza through a decent flick shot.
The Philadelphia Flyers were content on regaining the lead and worked hard to score. Their efforts were successful as the home teams scored in the 15th minute to take the score to 2-1 and the period finished on the same score. The goal was scored
by Darroll Powe through a tip in shot. During the course of the period, the Ottawa Senators made 9 goal attempts while the Philadelphia Flyers made 17 goal attempts.
Though both the teams approached the game with an attacking mentality in the 2nd period but they were unable to capitalize from the chances they got. The Philadelphia Flyers scored the only goal of the period to further strengthen their lead.
The goal was scored by Claude Giroux through a powerful strike in the 18th minute that left the goalkeeper no chance of stopping it. During the second period, the Philadelphia Flyers made 15 goal attempts while the Ottawa Senators made 11 goal
attempts.
The final period of the match saw the Philadelphia Flyers start off in spectacular fashion once again as they managed to score twice during the period to establish 4 goals lead to their advantage.
The first of the 2 goals was scored by the Flyers through Mike Richards backhand shot in the 7th minute. The latter was scored in the 8th minute again by Mike Richards through a decent flick shot. The period didn’t see any further goals
as the match ended with the Philadelphia Flyers winning the match 5-1.
During the final 20 minutes of the match, the Philadelphia Flyers made 14 goal attempts while Ottawa Senators made 9 goal attempts but all in vain.
