2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Phoenix Coyotes win 3-0 against the Anaheim Ducks
The Anaheim Ducks versus the Phoenix Coyotes was the 394th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The match was played at the Honda Centre, home of the Duck this Sunday. Around 14,000 people came to visit the match as the Phoenix Coyotes
played the 26th game of the campaign, while the Anaheim Ducks played the 29th game of the season. The last time these two teams met, the Anaheim Ducks won the match 6-4 on the 27th of November with winner goal scored by Corey
Perry.
The home team started the stronger of the two teams coming up with some excellent pieces of play along with attacks that saw them coming across scoring chances. The home team was unable to score from the chances they got.
However, the Phoenix Coyotes came up with good and healthy chances during the period and scored in the 11th minute to break the deadlock and take the lead. The goal was scored by Taylor Pyatt from a decent strike.
The period ended with the Coyotes in the lead at 1-0 and they made 16 goal attempts while the Anaheim Ducks made 10 goal attempts.
The 2nd period of the match saw the home team start off strongly once again. They were fully supported by the crowd but it just didn’t seem to be their night. The home team dreadful mistake up front along with some excellent goal keeping resulted
in the Anaheim Ducks failing to score.
Once again, it was the Phoenix Coyotes who started to attack and with the constant pressure managed to score their second goal in the 18th minute. The goal was scored by Shane Doan from a well place flick shot.
The period ended with the Phoenix Coyotes leading 2-0 and they made 16 goal attempts. The Anaheim Ducks poor finishing offence saw them making 11 goal attempts without any goals.
The final period of the match was a reflection of the previous 40 minutes of play. The home side was the stronger at the start but the Phoenix Coyotes sealed the match scoring in the 18th minute. The goal was scored by Lee Stempniak from a flick
shot.
Couple with excellent combination up front, the away side came up with a wall solid defence that was led by the goal keeper who didn’t allow any goals. The match and the period ended with the Coyotes winning the match 3-0. During the final 20 minutes of
play, the Ducks made 5 goal attempts while the Coyotes made 7 goal attempts.
