2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series– Phoenix Coyotes win 3-2 against Vancouver Canucks
The final game of Sunday saw the Vancouver Canucks play host to the Phoenix Coyotes. This was the 297th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series that was played at the Rogers Arena in front of 19,000 fans.
The match saw the Phoenix Coyotes and the Vancouver Canucks both play the 20th game of their campaign thus far.
The Phoenix Coyotes started off the proceedings with quick shots but the Canucks kept in touch with them and responded to attacks the away side made. Both teams were content on taking the lead by scoring as early possible.
This strategy didn’t work because both teams had the same strategy, which resulted in them cancelling out each other. The period saw both teams coming up with decent shooting and passing but no goals were scored as the period ended with scores level at 0-0.
During the course of the period, the Vancouver Canucks made 10 goal attempts while Phoenix Coyotes made 8 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw Phoenix Coyotes start on a high and score in the 3rd minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Scottie Upshall from a flick shot. The away side was successful in scoring once again in the 7th minute
to double their lead.
The goal was scored by Taylor Pyatt from a well placed flick shot that took the score to 2-0. The home team was successful in responding to this with a goal in the 9th minute of the period. The goal was scored by Christian Ehrhoff, which kept
hopes of a Canucks comeback alive.
The Vancouver Canucks with the backing of the home crowd crawled their way back into the match as they scored once again in the 15th minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by Tanner Glass from a tip in shot that levelled the scores at
2-2. The period ended with the scores level as the Vancouver Canucks made 10 goal attempts while the Phoenix Coyotes made 7 goal attempts.
The final 20 minutes of the match were pretty much even if we talk about the scoring opportunities both teams developed.
The only difference was the fact that Phoenix Coyotes converted their chances frequently into dangerous plays. They were rewarded for their hard work with a goal in the 6th minute of the period, which put them in the lead.
The goal was scored by Taylor Pyatt as the Phoenix Coyotes won the match 3-2. During the course of the final period, the Coyotes made 13 goal attempts while the Vancouver Canucks made 7 goal attempts.
