2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Phoenix Coyotes win 4-3 against the Nashville Predators
With around 7,000 fans present at the Jobing.com Arena, the 171st game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series kicked off at 7:08 local time. The game saw the home team Phoenix Coyotes up against the Nashville Predators. This was the 11th
game of the campaign for the both team as they were hoping to register a win this time out. The match was evenly balanced throughout as both teams came up with a good performance but the Coyotes managed to get noses ahead and win the match 4-3.
1st Period
The home team started in spectacular fashion as they scored early in the 2nd minute to take the lead. The goal was a result of some excellent passing and shooting by the home team. The Phoenix Coyotes goal was scored by Ed Jovanovski from 46 feet
through a splendid flick shot.
After the early goal, the home team continued their search for another goal but they couldn’t manage score during the course of the period. However, the away team gained a lot of confidence as they made some quick passes and at the end shot the puck which
barely went wide. They managed to level the score in the 9th minute. The goal was scored by Francis Bouillon from a spectacular shot from 64 feet.
The crowd was silenced by the Nashville Predators in the very next play after the restarted as they struck for the second time. The goal was scored by Sergei Kostitsyn from 33 feet through a flick shot that went through the legs of the goal keeper.
The Predators kept on attacking even though they were in the lead. The period came to end with the Nashville Predators leading 2-1. During the period, the home team managed to score once out of the 8 goal attempts and the Nashville Predators scored twice
out of the 11 goal attempts they made.
2nd Period
The 2nd period saw the home team start off strongly once again. There fast breaks and quick passing led to them levelling the match in the 2nd minute. The goal was scored by Ed Jovanovski who bagged his second for the night. The goal
was a result of a spectacular power shot from 24 feet.
After this, the Phoenix Coyotes managed to pile up some good chances and almost took the lead in the 7th minute only to be denied by the goal post. However, the away team start to put their foot on the gas and responded with goal in the 13th
minute to regain the lead. The goal was scored through a flick shot from 12 feet by Patric Hornqvist.
The rest of the period saw both teams content on not letting the opposition score. This resulted in some extravagant display of ice hockey defence. Attacks were cut off from everywhere and some spectacular and well timed tackles led the fans to applaud no
matter the team was away or the home team.
The period ended with the Nashville Predators leading 3-2. During the period both the teams scored once each with the Predators making 8 goal attempts and the Phoenix Coyotes making 10 goal attempts.
3rd Period
The 3rd period was totally dominated by the home team. The determination and backing of the home fans saw them level the score in the 5th minute during a power play. The goal was scored by Lee Stempniak from 21 feet through a decent
shot.
After the score was level at 3-3, the home team was confident of the two teams as they scored the last goal. The momentum and determination worked for them as they managed to take the lead in the 6th minute. The goal was scored by Ed Jovanovski
from a simple shot that was placed in the top corner from 21 feet.
The period didn’t see any further goals as the Phoenix Coyotes won the match 4-3. During the final 20 minutes, the home scored twice out of the 10 goal attempts they made, whereas the Nashville Predators made 12 goal attempts but couldn’t score.
