2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Pittsburgh Penguins win 3-1 against the New York Rangers

The first game of Monday, 29th November 2010 saw the New York Rangers host the Pittsburgh Penguins at Madison Square Garden. The match was played in front of 18,200 fans as the 348th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The
match saw the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers both play the 26th game of the campaign so far.
The home team, New York Rangers made a decent start to the match firing shots early on and coming up with quick passing. However, the home team was able to counter this with attacks too. They started to construct attacks after combining together brilliantly.
The match saw the first goal being scored by Pittsburgh Penguins in the 6th minute.
The goal was scored by Maxime Talbot through a wonderful flick shot. After the goal, both teams switched to defensive mode. The defence that both teams came up with was very tough and thus both teams cancelled each other out.

The home team made a good start to the 2nd period like before. They were unable to convert their chances into goals though.

The away side managed to score a third goal in the 14th minute to take the score to 3-0. The goal was scored by Chris Conner through a well placed flick shot.
As the end neared, the Pittsburgh Penguins relaxed and the home side took advantage of this. The New York Rangers scored in the 17th minute to cut the lead to 2 goals. The goal was scored by Marian Gaborik from a well placed shot.
The Penguins led 3-1 into the break with the away side making 14 goal attempts while the Rangers made 6 goal attempts.
The final period of the match saw both teams approach the game attacking a little but the main emphasis was on the department of defence.
The home team made a total of 12 goal attempts in the final period but failed to score. The Pittsburgh Penguins made 7 goal attempts but they couldn’t score either. The period and the match ended with the Pittsburgh Penguins winning the match 3-1.
