2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Pittsburgh Penguins win 3-1 against the Vancouver Canucks 
Pittsburgh Penguins versus the Vancouver Canucks was the 259thgame of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series that was played at the Consol Energy Centre, home of the Penguins. The match was played this Wednesday in front of
18,000 fans as the Vancouver Canucks played their 18th game and the Pittsburgh Penguins played the 20th game of their respective campaign.
The 1st period began with the Vancouver Canucks making a few early goal attempts without much success. After the few early minutes of the match the home teams started to make attacks. This resulted in Pittsburgh
Penguins scoring in the17th minute to acquire the lead. The goal was scored by Captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Sidney Crosby through a quick fired shot that went flying in the back of the net. The home team got many scoring opportunities but they failed
to score and the period ended with the home team leading 1-0. During the period Vancouver Canucks made 6 goal attempts while the Pittsburgh Penguins made 11 goal attempts.
The 2nd period of the match saw the Pittsburgh Penguins come out hungry for scoring goals. Their search for a goal was successful as they scored in the 6th minute to double the lead. The
goal was scored by Maxime Talbot through a spectacular backhand shot.
The hard work and determination of the Penguins paid of once again as they scored in the 10th minute to take the score to 3-0. The goal was scored by Arron Asham through a well placed flick shot.
However, this time the Vancouver Canucks was able to respond and with the very first attack after the restart the away team scored. The goal was scored by Dan Hamhuis through a decent strike. The 2nd period ended
with the Pittsburgh Penguins leading 3-1 as they 9 goal attempts during the period and their counterpart made 12 goal attempts.
The final period of the match saw both the team approach the game with attacking mentality which led to the period being one of the most entertaining parts of the match. The puck was seen going to and fro throughout the course of the 20
minutes. The home team opted to go for defence as the end of the match neared.
The period saw both the teams making goal attempts but no goal were seen as the period and the match ended in favour of the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1. During the course of the period, the Vancouver Canucks made 12 goal attempts while the
Pittsburgh Penguins made 9 goal attempts.
