2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series –Pittsburgh Penguins win 5-2 against the Buffalo Sabres (Weekend Roundup)
The Pittsburgh Penguins was hosted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 426th game of the Compuware NHL Premiere Series. This was the 31st game of the season for the Penguins while the Sabres played the 30th game of the campaign.
The match started off in spectacular fashion with the Pittsburgh Penguins scoring the first goal in the 7th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Dustin Jeffrey from a simple tip in shot. The Pittsburgh Penguins continued to pile pressure
on the home side and in doing so came across numerous scoring opportunities.
The Penguins successfully doubled the lead with a second goal in the 10th minute through Arron Asham from a powerful strike. The home team was able to respond to this and cut the lead to trail by just one goal. The goal was scored in the 16th
minute by Tyler Ennis from a superb shot. This marked the end of the period with the Penguins leading 2-1.
During the course of the 2nd period, both teams tried hard to work their way past the opposing defence. Even though they were successful in doing so but they couldn’t convert the chances into goals as the period ended without any goals being scored.
The score at the end of the 2nd period was still in favour of the Pittsburgh Penguins as they led 2-1.
The final period saw the Penguins scoring in the 13th minute to regain 2 goals lead to their advantage. The goal was scored by Alex Goligoski from a decent strike. The Buffalo Sabres responded to this with a goal in the 13th minute
of the period. The goal scorer was Jason Pominville who scored through a brilliant backhand shot.
The Pittsburgh Penguins wrapped up the match as they scored in the 17th and 20th minutes. The first goal was scored by Michael Rupp while the second was scored by Matt Cooke from a powerful long range shot.
Philadelphia Flyers win 2-1 against the Boston Bruins
The Philadelphia Flyers versus the Boston Bruins was the 425th game of the Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The match saw the Flyers playing the 31st game of the season while the Boston Bruins played the 28th game of the season.
Both teams made a decent start to the match as they fired shots on the opposing goal regularly. Both teams had numerous goal scoring opportunities but they failed to capitalize as the match period ended with the scores deadlocked at 0-0.
During the course of the period, the Philadelphia Flyers made 10 goal attempts while the Boston Bruins made 9 goal attempts.

The final 20 minutes of the match saw the Boston Bruins successfully scoring in the 10th minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by Nathan Horton from a brilliant flick shot. There was nothing else much to talk about as the regulation
time ended with the scores level and the match went into overtime.
During overtime, Philadelphia Flyers scored through Mike Richards in the 5th minute to win the match 2-1.
