2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – San Jose Sharks thrash the Detroit Red Wings 5-2

The 399th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was played between the Detroit Red Wings and the San Jose Sharks. The match was played at the Joe Louis Arena, home of the Detroit Red Wings. An attendance of around 19,000 fans was observed
during the course of the match as the Detroit Red Wings played the 25th game of their campaign while the San Jose Sharks played the 26th game of the campaign.
The home team, Detroit Red Wings made a brilliant start to the match as they fired shots at the opposing goal and came up with some splendid passing. The home team’s confidence and backing of the fans resulted in the Detroit Red Wings scoring in the 8th
minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Tomas Holstrom from a powerful strike.
The San Jose Sharks came up with good plays and successfully levelled the scores in the 16th minute. The goal was scored by Joe Thornton from a perfectly placed flick shot. The Detroit Red Wings were determined to take the lead once again as the
end of the period approached. The Red Wings scored in the 19th minute to take the lead once again.
The goal was scored by Johan Franzen from a quick fired shot. The period saw both teams coming across more scoring opportunities but no goals were seen. The period ended with the Detroit Red Wings leading 2-1 as they made 16 goal attempts while the San Jose
Sharks made 9 goal attempts.
The 2nd period was totally dominated by the San Jose Sharks. Their offence was very strong and they levelled the scores once again with a goal in the 5th minute. The goal was scored by Niclas Wallin from a simple tip in shot.
The San Jose Sharks continued to pile on the pressure, which proved to be too much and they scored once again in the 6th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Logan Couture from a wonderful flick shot.
The San Jose Sharks took the foot off the gas after taking the lead. The home team had no answer to the San Jose Sharks. The away team on the other was controlling the pace of the game and they managed to score once again in the 19th minute to
strengthen their lead. The goal was scored by Dany Heatley from a decent strike.
The period ended with the San Jose Sharks leading 4-1. During the 20 minutes of play the San Jose Sharks made 12 goal attempts while the Detroit Red Wings made 6 goal attempts.
The Detroit Red Wings made a few goal attempts early on but the San Jose Sharks started to attack once again. The away side managed to score once again through Logan Couture from a simple tip in shot. During the course of the final period the Detroit Red
Wings made 5 goal attempts while the San Jose Sharks made 14 goal attempts.
