2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series Special Report – Carolina Hurricanes stop at TD Garden as they face Boston Bruins

Boston Bruins will be hosting the second of the four encounters against the Carolina Hurricanes. The match will take place this Monday as the home team will face the Hurricanes at the TD Garden with the next match taking place the very next day.
This last time both teams faced each other, Carolina Hurricanes were on top of their game winning the game 3-0 with Jeff Skinner scoring the first goal and awarded the star selection award. The last match between the two sides saw Carolina Hurricanes Cam
Ward coming up with a brilliant performance which saw him making 37 saves.
Both teams have come up with consistent performances and the match is expected to be very tight as they go on head to head. Boston Bruins have been better of the two sides scoring at least a point in the last 10 out of 12 games while the Carolina Hurricanes
have managed to come up with a point in nine of their last ten games. Monday’s encounter is expected to see both teams scoring points but there is very slight chance of going away with the win scoring all points.
The Eastern Conference is heating up with the playoff position up for grabs making the remaining part of the regular all the more interesting. In order to finish in the playoff position it is predicted that a team needs to come up with consistent performances
in ten games consecutively. Carolina Hurricanes are safe from that side as they have scored 16 points out of the last 20 points.
The last match that the Carolina Hurricanes played saw them winning 6-4 against their Eastern Conference rivals Tampa Bay Lightning. The winning goal on the night was scored by Captain of the Carolina Hurricanes, Eric Staal. The captain is currently leading
by example scoring goals and making assists game after game.
"What's exciting about Eric Staal is that he's not at his peak offensively or defensively," Coach Paul Maurice said. "He's still learning the game and he's still getting better."
Currently Carolina Hurricanes have played 44 games out of which they have won 22 games in regular time and 6 games in overtime scoring 50 points. Boston Bruins have played 44 games going into the match out of which they have won 24 games in regulation time,
7 in overtime and scored 55 points.
Boston Bruins tasted defeat from the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins as they were defeated 3-2. But they can be happy as they found their way back into the match after trailing 2-0. Boston Bruins have scored 17 points out of a possible 24. With the 55 points
they sit pretty in the third position in the Eastern Conference and looks like the gates for the playoff are very much open for them.
Though backup goal keeper, Tuukka Rask made couple of brilliant saves in the match but he was disappointed and frustrated as Boston Bruins lost the match.
"It's one of those games you want to step up and win the game for your team because they played so well," Rask said. "It's a tough loss to swallow, at least for me. I think nobody's happy here right now."
Ahead of the match, Captain of the Carolina Hurricanes is in superb form with four goals and five assists. Patrice Bergeron on the other had his points scoring streak snapped this weekend during which he managed to score 6 goals and 3 assists.
