2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – St. Louis Blues win 2-1 after shootout against the Nashville Predators

The 316th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was played at the Bridgestone Arena, home of the Nashville Predators. The match saw the home team up against the St. Louis Blues this Wednesday in front of 17,000 fans. This was the 20th
game of the campaign for both the teams as they searched for victory.
The St. Louis Blues went off to a flying start as they scored in the 9th second of the match to take the lead. The goal was scored by Andy McDonald from a superb flick shot that put the away side in the league. The crowd was silence right from
the start of the match.
The St. Louis Blues dominated the early part of the period but eventually with the passage of time the home team settled and came up with strong attacks. The Nashville Predators were playing only their 8th home game so far. The Nashville Predators
was very shaky leading into the attack which surprised many.
The period didn’t see any further goals as the St. Louis Blues went leading 1-0 into the break. The St. Louis Blues made 5 goal attempts in the period while the Nashville Predators made 8 goal attempts.
The 2nd period of the match saw Nashville Predators scoring in the 22nd second of the period to level the scores. The goal was scored by Jerred Smithson from a perfectly placed flick shot.
The Nashville Predators dominated much of the 2nd period but they couldn’t capitalize from the chances they got. The period ended on a high for the St. Louis Blues as they fired quite a few shots right at the end of the first period.
The scores at the end of the 2nd period was level on 1-1 with the St. Louis Blues making 4 goal attempts while the Nashville Predators made 10 goal attempts.
The final period of the match saw the home team dominate the period to some extent. The Nashville Predators came up with shots regularly but like the previous period but couldn’t capitalize from the opportunities they got.
There were no goals scored in the final period as the 3rd period ended with scores level on 1-1. The final period saw the Nashville Predators making 12 goal attempts while the St. Louis Blues made 4 goal attempts.
The match went into overtime as a result but no goals were scored in the overtime as well. The shootout saw the goal by Andy McDonald won the match for the St. Louis Blues.
