2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – St. Louis Blues win 3-2 against the New Jersey Devils

The 289th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series saw the St. Louis Blues play host to the New Jersey Devils. The match was played at the Scottrade Centre in front of 19,000 fans who came in support of their respective teams. The match
saw the New Jersey Devils play the 20th game of the season while the St. Louis Blues played their 19th game of the season. The match took place this Saturday and ended 3-2 in favour of the home team, St. Louis Blues.
The New Jersey Devils were quick to start and scored with the very first attack of the period they made. The goal was scored in the 26th second of the period with the goal scored by David Clarkson from a well placed flick shot.
The away team continued to pile the pressure despite the early goal in search of another goal. They weren’t successful; in fact the St. Louis Blues caught them on a counter attack in the 10th minute to level the score. The goal was scored by Alex
Pietrangelo from a simple tip in shot.
The period saw both the teams trying desperately to score but no further goals were seen as the period ended with the score level at 1-1.
During the course of the period, the New Jersey Devils made 14 goal attempts while the St. Louis Blues made 7 goal attempts.
The 2nd period of the match was no different in terms of attacks made by the teams. Both the teams regularly went on the attacks.
The New Jersey Nets was successful in scoring and taking the lead once again with a goal in the 10th minute of the period. The goal was scored by Mattias Tedenby from a brilliant backhand shot.
The home team was able to respond to this with strong attacks too and they came close to scoring on several occasions. The period saw the St. Louis Blues finally levelling the score by scoring in the 19th minute of the period. The goal was scored
by Eric Brewer from a powerful strike.
The score at the start of the final period was 2-2 and both the teams attacked in search of a goal that would put them in the lead. The St. Louis Blues were successful in scoring in the 6th minute of the period to take the lead. The goal was scored
by Brad Winchester from a tip in shot that won the home team the match 3-2.
