2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Tampa Bay Lightning play the Boston Bruins who seek their fourth straight win
The Boston Bruins will be facing the Tampa Bay Lightning for the first time during the course of the season. Both the teams have to play each other 4 times during the season. The last time both the teams were up against each other was on the 25th
March 2010 where the Tampa bay Lightning dominated the game and emerged as the winners winning the game 5-3. The Tampa Bay Lightning outshot the Boston Bruins when they fired 50 shots compared to the 18 shots of the Bruins.
Both the teams are expected to come up with a very entertaining match as the Boston Bruins are fourth and the Tampa Bay Lightning are fifth in the Eastern Conference standings.
Both teams are equal in terms of wins and points which would urge them a great deal to overpower the other and in this process a tough battle is expected to take place.
Both the teams have had a good couple of games with the Tampa Bay Lightning winning their last 3 games and the Boston Bruins losing their first game after maintaining a three-game winning streak.
The Boston Bruins came up with a very good performance in their last match against the Los Angeles Kings despite losing to them 4-3 in the shootout. The headline was the fact that they managed to crawl back into the match after trailing 3-0 with their goal
keeper Tim Thomas making 23 saves during the match.
However, the Kings managed to clinch the match as they finally beat Thomas to win the match 4-3. Talking about the goal keeper, Coach of the Boston Bruins said, "Both goalies were very good," Murray said. "Thomas is having a great year. You can see his composure
in the shootout. It could have went deeper, for sure."
The Boston Bruins have played 18 games so far and registered 13 wins losing 5 games scoring 25 points. On the contrary, the Tampa Bay Lightning has played 20 games, winning 13 games and losing 7 games also scoring 25 points.
The Tampa Bay Lightning was involved in a goal fiesta match on Thursday against the Minnesota Wild which they finally won 8-7. Steven Stamkos scored a hat-trick in the match and is expected to be the difference maker in this match if he clicks this time.
Tampa Bay Lightning saw goal keeper Mike Smith rising up and playing a major role in the Tampa Bay Lightning’s win over the Buffalo Sabres as he made 29 saves during the course of the match.
Talking to the media ahead of the match he said, "It's been a long time coming since I've let just one goal in," said Smith, who had allowed 10 goals combined in his last two starts. "I handled the puck as well as I've handled it all year, but it's not
about me. Our team did such a great job in front of me."
The player to watch out for in the match is undoubtedly Steven Stamkos who leads the league scoring 19 goals and 34 points.
On the other side, Boston Bruins are the team that has allowed 33 goals in 18 games which is the lowest in the league. Combining all the elements together ahead of the match, surely results in a very entertaining and tough battle on our hands.
