2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series: Tampa Bay Lightning win 4-0 against Toronto Maple Leafs

Tampa Bay Lightning versus Toronto Maple Leafs was the 208th game of 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series that took place this Tuesday at St. Pete Times Forum, home of Tampa Bay Lightning. This was the 14th game for both teams in the
campaign thus far. The home team dominated play and scored 3 goals only in the opening period winning the match 4-0 in the end.
Leafs were stronger of the two teams at the start of the match but as the 1st period progressed, the home team settled and gained confidence. With their constant attacks, Lightning scored in the 12th minute to take the first lead. The goal was
scored by Steven Stamkos from a 26 feet powerful strike.
Lightning continued with the dominating performance and scored once again. This time the goal was scored by Nate Thompson through a flick shot from 18 feet. Lightning were eager on further strengthening their 2-0 lead. Their constant hard work resulted in
them scoring the third goal in the last minute of the 1st period. The goal scorer was Dominic Moore who scored through a tip in shot from 17 feet.
The 1st period ended with the score being 3-0 in favour of Lightning. Lightning made 14 goal attempts while Leafs made 9 in the period.
Leafs started the 2nd period strongly but were unable to capitalize. They could not score any goals despite making numerous attempts. The end of 2nd period saw the score still at 3-0 in favour of Lightning as they made 7 goal attempts while Leafs
made 13 attempts in the period.
The final period started decently for Lightning as they came across several goal scoring opportunities. They managed to convert one of these into goal in the 6th minute. The fourth goal of the match was scored by Steven Stamkos via a spectacular
backhand shot from 18 feet.
