2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Tampa Bay Lightning win 4-2 against the New York Islanders 
The 257th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was played between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the home team New York Islanders. The match took place at the Naasau Coliseum in front of 8,000 fans as both teams played
the 18th match of their respective campaign. The home crowd saw disappointment as their home team; New York Islanders came across the 11th consecutive loss of the season.
The home team made a good start to the match firing a few early shots but Tampa Bay Lighting started their dominance after the early stages of the match. They came up with excellent passes that often led them into open and scoring positions.
Though both the teams came across numerous scoring opportunities but they failed to score. However, with just 1 second remaining in the period Tampa Bay Lightning scored to take the lead. The goal came as a result of a spectacular strike
by Steven Stamkos.
This was the last play of the period as the Tampa bay Lightning led 1-0 as the teams went into the break. During the course of the period, the Tampa Bay Lightning made 19 goal attempts while the New York Islanders managed to take their
goal attempts total to 11.
The 2nd period of the match saw both teams adopt more of an attacking mentality as they were desperate to get on the winning ways. Tampa Bay Lightning was successful in putting pressure early on and managed to double the lead
with a goal in the 13thminute. The goal was score by Brett Clark through a simple tip in shot.
The home team responded to this with attacks too and managed to score a goal in the 18th minute. The goal was scored by Matt Moulson from a powerful strike. The period ended with the away team lead 2-1. The period also saw the
home team put up an equally matched performance to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the period as they made 15 goal attempts while the Tampa Bay Lightning made 13 goal attempts.
The final period saw both the teams start off cautiously but when the end approached both of them exploded with very strong attacks. The first goal of the period was scored by Martin St. Louis’s flick shot in the 19th minute
in favour of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The New York Islanders scored in the same minute to keep hopes alive. The goal was scored by John Travares through splendid backhand shot. However, the Tampa Bay Lightning sealed the match with a goal in the 20th minute. The
goal was scored by Nate Thompson from a perfectly placed flick shot that won them the match 4-2.
