1st Period
The performance of the 1st period can be divided into two parts. The first dominated by the Toronto Maple Leafs and the second by the Boston Bruins.
The Toronto Maple Leafs had their chances of scoring but they couldn’t find the back of the net. The team had fluency and smoothness in their attacks. Coupled with this was the fact that all these were made regular basis. The Toronto Maple got close to scoring
in the 7th minute only to be denied by the goal keeper.
However, the Boston Bruins attacks had more power than their counterparts. The plays that developed during the attacks were splendid and well worked. Though the Boston Bruins had the greater strength in the attacks, they couldn’t score. They tried hard and
work harder in the next attack that developed in their search of a goal. The Boston Bruins was scoring in the 20th minute to take the lead.
The goal was scored by Patrice Bergeron through a splendid shot that was hit from 38 feet and went through the legs of the goal keeper and into the net.
The period ended with the Boston Bruins in the lead making 11 goal attempts during the 20 minutes and scoring once whereas the Toronto Maple Leafs made 8 goal attempts without any goals.
2nd Period
The Maple Leafs started the 2nd period in similar fashion as the first one but the only difference was this that this start lasted only a couple of minutes.
After the early few goal attempts made by the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Boston Bruins came up with a defence that allowed almost nothing past them. Such was the pressure of the Boston Bruins defence that they restricted the opposition to limited shots from
long range all of which went wide of the goal.
The Boston Bruins attack was very powerful just like the 1st period. In the 13th minute, the Boston Bruins was able to double the lead with a goal from Tyler Seguin. The goal came as a result of a 41 feet flick shot that was perfectly
placed.
The Boston Bruins continued to come across chances but they couldn’t convert any of the chances into goals. The period ended with the Boston Bruins leading 2-0. During the course of the period, the Boston Bruins scored a goal out of the 10 goal attempts
they made and the Toronto Maple Leafs again finished with a goalless period managing just 4 goal attempts.
3rd Period
The last period saw the home team start off dictating the proceedings. Not only did they attack the opposing goal but they were very strong in the defence. There were no goals during the period but both teams like the previous 2 periods had a lot of chances
but none of them were converted into goals.
There were no goals in the period and the match ended with the Boston Bruins winning the match 2-0. During the course of the period the Boston Bruins made 10 goal attempts and the Toronto Maple Leafs made 8 goal attempts but neither of teams scored.
Tyler Seguin who scored the 2nd goal for the Boston Bruins at the end of the match said,
"He must be doing something right if they're doing that," Seguin said. "I like to say I hope I'll get booed in an arena. But hopefully it won't be Boston."
