2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series Updates – Boston Bruins thrash Carolina Hurricanes 7-0 with Zdeno Chara scoring a hat-trick
The first game of Monday and the 677th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was hosted by the Boston Bruins. The match took at the TD Garden Arena with around 17,500 fans coming to witness the match. This was the 45th game
of the season for each team which saw the Boston Bruins step up their game right from the word go.
Zdeno Chara, defenseman of the Boston Bruins was named the star player of the match for the hat-trick he scored and brilliant defending at the back. The result of combining all this together was an extravagant performance by Boston Bruins as they won 7-0.
Carolina Hurricanes made a decent start to the match during which they not only fired shots on goal but also came up with brilliant passing abilities. However, the home team Boston Bruins got back into the game coming up with brilliant pieces of play. They
not only made goal attempts right from the start of their domination but also proved to be productive scoring through Mark Stuart from a powerful long range shot in the 8th minute to take the lead.
Boston Bruins dominated the game after the goal till the end of the period. They successfully doubled the lead with another goal in the 12th minute scored by Zdeno Chara. A few minutes later, Chara was again on the scoring sheet bagging his second
goal from another long range shot in the 16th minute.
Boston Bruins had more scoring chances but they failed to capitalize and the period ended with the Boston Bruins leading 3-0. During the course of the period, Carolina Hurricanes made 12 goal attempts while Boston Bruins made 15 goal attempts.
The second period was again similar to the first one which saw the Carolina Hurricanes made a great start to the period but failing to convert the chances. On the other hand, Boston Bruins pressed on and started to come across scoring chances later on in
the period.
Carolina Hurricanes could have easily scored five goals but their failure to convert the chances into goals cost them dearly. Boston Bruins on the other hand during the dominating part in the period managed to score once again in the 16th minute
through Gregory Campbell from a simple tip in shot.
In the very next minute, Patrice Bergeron scored once again for the Boston Bruins to take the score to 5-0. The period ended with both teams making goal attempts but failed to score as the period with Boston Bruins leading 5-0.
Unlike the first two periods, Boston Bruins started the period stronger of the two teams and displayed some excellent passing. The home team with the backing of the crowd successfully scored once again in the 3rd minute through Michael Ryder from
a tip in shot.
Both teams continued to pile up shots after shots. Zdeno Chara completed his first hat-trick scoring in the 15th from a powerful strike. The period and the match ended with Boston Bruins winning 7-0 with both teams making 9 goal attempts each
during the final 20 minutes of play.
