2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series Updates – Calgary Flames limit Buffalo Sabres by sealing a win 5-2
Calgary Flames hosted the 534th game of the season against the Buffalo Sabres. This was the 36th game for the Buffalo Sabres and the 37th game of the season for the Calgary Flames. The match was evenly matched during the
first two periods but the home team turned the tables in the final 20 minutes scoring three goals to win the match 5-2 in the end.
Undoubtedly, the away team started the period strongly as they fired shots on the opposing goal every now and then. They could have taken the lead in the 5th minute but failed to capitalize on the chances they got.
However, Buffalo Sabres scored in the 9th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Drew Stafford from a well placed shot. After the goal, both teams had more scoring chances but they failed to capitalize and no further goals were scored
as the period ended with the Buffalo Sabres leading 1-0.
During the course of the period, Buffalo Sabres made 7 goal attempts while the Calgary Flames made 6 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw the home team starting off strongly. Their confidence and self belief resulted in them scoring in the 3rd minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by Olli Jokinen. Calgary Flames continued to pile pressure
on the away side with constant bombardment of shots. They successfully took the lead with their second goal in the 17th minute. The goal was scored by Jarome Iginla with the help of a decent strike.
Though in the 2nd period Buffalo Sabres made 12 goal attempts but their finishing was disappointing. They could have easily levelled the scores. The period ended with the Calgary Flames leading 2-1 as the home team made 14 goal attempts.
Calgary Flames kept the pressure on the away side in the final period. They were successful in scoring in the 3rd minute through Ales Kotalik. The home team’s constant attacking resulted in them scoring once again in the 7th minute.

The away team managed to score their second goal in the 17th minute to take the score 4-2. The goal was scored by Patrick Kaleta. The home team managed to score and seal the match in the 20th minute. The goal was scored by Tom Kostopoulos
from a powerful strike.
During the course of the match the Buffalo Sabres made 27 goal attempts while the Calgary Flames made 33 goal attempts.
