2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series Updates – Carolina Hurricanes win 4-3 against the Atlanta Thrashers

Carolina Hurricanes playing host to the Atlanta Thrashers was the first game of Sunday and the 623rd game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The match was played at the RBC Centre in front of around 18,000 fans. Tuomo Ruutu of the Carolina
Hurricanes was named the star selection of the match for his goal and an assist. This was a very tough and tight encounter which went into overtime where Carolina Hurricanes managed to score and win the 4-3.
Carolina Hurricanes with the home advantage made a quick start to the match which saw them attacking right from the word go. The Carolina Hurricanes didn’t take too long and took the lead with a goal in the 2nd minute. The goal was scored by Tuomo
Ruutu from a well placed flick shot.
Atlanta Thrashers got into the game a few minutes later as they too grew in confidence and created chances. The result of this hard work was a goal scored by Bryan Little to level the scores. The goal was scored in the 12th minute through a brilliant
wrap around shot.
The period saw a few more goal more goal attempts from both sides but no further goals were scored. The period ended with the scores level on 1-1. During the course of the period, Carolina Hurricanes made 9 goal attempts while Atlanta Thrashers made 8 goal
attempts.
Carolina Hurricanes again started the second period on a high. They didn’t care about the spaces they left open at the back. All they seem to know at the time was attacking. The home team managed to score successfully through Zac Dalpe from a simple tip
in shot in the 4th minute.
The constant pressure put by the Carolina Hurricanes front line resulted in them ahead by two goals. The second goal was scored by Jeff Skinner from a powerful strike in the 6th minute. Atlanta Thrashers just like the prior period was able to
come up with some good shots.
The away side was able to score in the 7th minute through Niclas Bergfors from a decent strike to cut the lead to one goal. Both teams continued to search another goal but unfortunately, there were no further goals.
The period ended with Carolina Hurricanes leading 3-2. During the course of the period, Carolina Hurricanes made 10 goal attempts while Atlanta Thrashers made 12 goal attempts.
The final period didn’t see much happening with the main thing in the period being the goal scored by Bryan Little in the 11th minute for Atlanta Thrashers to level the scores. This goal proved to be the only goal of the period.
The period ended with the scored level on 3-3. As a result, the match went into overtime where Carolina Hurricanes scored through Erik Cole from a flick shot to win the match 4-3.
