2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series Updates – Defending Champions Chicago Blackhawks win 6-3 against the Nashville Predators
Another one of the interesting matches was the Chicago Blackhawks playing host to the Nashville Predators in pursuit of defending their crown. The match was played this Sunday at the United Centre with an attendance of around 21,000 fans. This was the 675th
game of the season with both teams playing the 46th game of the season.
The match was pretty much even after the first two periods but Hawks turned the tables in the final period to win the match 6-3 in the end. Troy Brouwer, winger of the Chicago Blackhawks was named the star selection of the match for his two important goals.
Nashville Predators made an exceptional start to the match firing shots and attacking regularly. Coupled with this was the tight defence they maintained. With the fast pieces of plays and attacks the away side didn’t give the Hawks any space and time to
settle.
However, Nashville Predators successfully scored in the 3rd minute through Martin Erat from a decent flick shot to get into the lead. The home fans cheered for their team to score which is exactly what they did in the 7th minute scoring
through Dave Bolland via brilliant tip in shot.
The fans were silenced once again as J-P Dumont scored once again for the Nashville Predators in the 15th minute. The period saw both teams making a few more goal attempts but the period ended with Predators leading 2-1 as they made 8 goal attempts
while Hawks made 6 goal attempts.
The second period was evenly matched with both teams attacking and passing pretty well. There were several scoring chances for both teams but they failed to convert them into goals.
The first and only goal of the period took some time coming but was finally scored in the 11th minute through Dave Bolland, who bagged his second for the night.
With the scored level on 2-2 both teams pressed on in search of more goals but they failed to score despite the numerous goal attempts made by them. The scores were level at the end of the period with both teams making 10 goal attempts during the course
of the period.
The final period was totally dominated by the Chicago Blackhawks after they made a slow start to the match.
Nashville Predators took the lead scoring in the 4th minute as J-P Dumont scored his second goal of the night from a brilliant long range strike. After the goal, it was all about Chicago Blackhawks from defence to offence.
Chicago Blackhawks scored twice in the 10th minute to take the lead of the match. Both the goals were scored by Troy Brouwer both from absolutely excellent long range shots. Chicago Blackhawks kept on attacking even after taking the leading which
resulted in them scoring once again in the 15th minute through Bryan Bickell from another long range shot.
Chicago Blackhawks sealed the match with the final goal of the match in the 17th minute scored by Jonathan Toews. Hawks had a few more chances before the end of the period but no goals were scored. The period and the match ended with Chicago Blackhawks
winning 6-3.
During the final 20 minutes of the match Nashville Predators made 5 goal attempts while Chicago Blackhawks made 18 goal attempts.
