2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series Updates – Minnesota Wild win 2-1 against New Jersey Devils as expected

New Jersey Devils hosting the Minnesota Wild was the first game of Tuesday which was played at the Prudential Centre. This was the 586th game of the season which was played in front of around 13,000 fans. The match was expected to be won by the
Minnesota Wild as New Jersey Devils was struggling at the bottom of the table. The 39th game of the season for both teams saw Cal Cutterbuck score the crucial opening goal as Minnesota Wild won the match 2-1.
Minnesota Wild dominated the period from the start to the end of the period. Minnesota’s offence was very strong and coupled with this was the fact that their defence was very strong too. Such was the brilliance of the backline that New Jersey Devils was
restricted to only one goal attempts during the first period.
On the other hand, Minnesota Wild fired shots regularly and came up with superb pieces of play. The away side managed to take the lead through Cal Cutterbuck’s goal in the 12th minute. The goal was scored through a wonderful flick shot.
There were more scoring chances for Minnesota Wild but no further goals were scored as the period ended with Minnesota leading 1-0 as they made 8 goal attempts. 
The second period saw New Jersey Devils turn the tables. The home team was cheered as they came onto the pitch. Coupled with this was the strategy change that resulted in the Devils dominating much of the play in the second period.
New Jersey Devils attacked right from the start of the period and immediately came across scoring chances. The Devils scored in the 4th minute through Ilya Kovalchuk to level the scores. After the scores were level both teams pressed on in search
of the goal that would them in the lead.
However, this was not to be as the period ended with the scores level as Minnesota Wild made 4 goal attempts and New Jersey Devils made 14 goal attempts.
The final period started off in spectacular fashion for Minnesota Wild as they came out with an attacking mentality. The implementation of the strategy resulted in the away side scoring in the 2nd minute through Clayton Stoner to take the lead.
With a few more chances coming in each teams way, no further goals were scored as the period and match ended with Minnesota Wild winning the match 2-1.
