2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series Updates – Phoenix Coyotes come up with an impressive 4-2 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets

The final game of Tuesday saw Phoenix Coyotes play host to the Columbus Blue Jackets. This was the 590th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The match took place at the Jobing.com Arena with around 8,000 fans coming to witness the
match. The match was tied after the first period but Phoenix upped the pace of the game and scored a couple of goals in the final two periods to emerge as 4-2 victors. Shane Doan was named the star selection of the match for his crucial goal in the final period.
Columbus Blue Jackets definitely was the stronger of the two teams at the start of the match as they came up with some brilliant pieces of play. The offence was also very strong but the only thing they lacked was in the department of finishing.
The defence was also shaky but they didn’t allow and goals in the opening part of the period. Columbus Blue Jackets dominated the game for good couple of minutes after which Phoenix Coyotes controlled the pace of the game.
With some brilliant passing and plays they unsettled the away side but they couldn’t score. The period despite the numerous goal attempts failed to convert them into goals and the period ended with scored deadlock on 0-0. During the course of the period
Columbus Blue Jackets made 8 goal attempts while Phoenix Coyotes made 14 goal attempts.
The second period was evenly matched by both sides as they made 9 goal attempts each. It took some time for the teams to attack but when Phoenix starting attacking they scored in the 7th minute to take the lead with the goal was scored by Scottie
Upshall from a backhand shot.
Phoenix with the strong offence managed to score once again in the 10th minute to double the lead. The goal was scored by Sami Lepisto from another brilliant backhand shot. Columbus Blue Jackets was able to respond to this with a few attacks and
a goal in the 12th minute through RJ Umberger which cut the lead to just one goal.
The period ended with no further goals and Phoenix Coyotes leading 2-1.
Columbus Blue Jackets continued from where they left off in the second period. Their attacks resulted in them levelling the scores once through Jakub Voracek’s goal in the 8th minute. After the goal the away side went on the back foot but Phoenix
Coyotes was able to come up with attacks and scoring chances too.
The constant hard work and determination to score saw the home team being rewarded with a goal in the 12th minute which was scored by Shane Doan from a simple tip in shot. Phoenix Coyotes sealed the match with another goal by Vernon Fiddler from
a simple flick shot which.
During the course of the final period both teams made 10 goal attempts each as Phoenix Coyotes won the match 4-2.
