2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series– Vancouver Canucks win 4-2 against Colorado Avalanche

The 318th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere was played between the Vancouver Canucks and the Colorado Avalanche. The match was played at the Rogers Arena, home of the Vancouver Canucks this Wednesday with around 19,000 fans that came to
witness the match.
This was the 21st game of the campaign for both the teams and both were looking strong ahead of the match and expected to put up an entertaining performance.
Both the teams were evenly matched through the course of the period and they came up with shots. Coupled with the strong attacking they displayed was the fact that the attacks were made after they found open spaces.
Neither of the team was in a hurry to score therefore no rash play was seen. The game went on smoothly and the first goal of the match was scored in the 11th minute of the match. The goal was scored by Kevin Bieksa that put the Vancouver Canucks
in the lead.
The period saw both the teams coming across more scoring opportunities but no further goals were scored. The period ended with Vancouver Canucks in the lead 1-0 as both the teams made 7 goal attempts during the course of the period.
The 2nd period saw the Colorado Avalanche start stronger of the two teams and they worked hard. The determination and hard work resulted in a goal for the away side. The goal leveled the score and was scored by Michael Liles from a brilliant flick
shot in the 6th minute.
The Vancouver Canucks responded to this with attacks as they settled into the period. The home team with the backing of the home crowd took the lead once again with their second goal in the 10th minute. The goal was scored by Daniel Sedin.
The score was 2-1 in favour of the Vancouver Canucks as the teams went into the break with the home side making 7 goal attempts while the Colorado Avalanche made 10 goal attempts.
The final period was less productive in terms of goal attempts but the most productive if we talk about goals scored.
The first goal of the period was scored by Vancouver Canucks in the 4th minute through Ryan Kesler’s backhand shot. Colorado scored in the 7th minute to keep in touch with the home side. The goal was scored by Matt Duchene through a
wonderful flick shot.
However, the home team sealed the win with the final goal of the match that they scored in the 14th minute. The goal was scored by Alexander Burrows.
The period and the match ended 4-2 in favour of the home side as the Colorado Avalanche made 5 goal attempts and the Vancouver Canucks made 6 goal attempts.
