2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series - Weekend Roundup (Part V) 
Phoenix Coyotes win 5-3 against the St. Louis Blues 
The 241st game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was played at the Jobing.com Arena, home to the Phoenix Coyotes. The match saw the home team up against the St. Louis Blues as the away team played their 15th game and the Coyotes
played their 17th game of the regular season thus far. 
Both teams made a decent start to the match and came across scoring opportunities every now and then. This resulted in the period being very exciting and entertaining for the fans. The first goal of the period was scored by the Phoenix Coyotes who scored
through Radim Vrbata from a simple tip in shot.
After taking the lead, the home team was content on maintaining a tight defence but this didn't work. In fact it went against them as the St. Louis Blues managed to score and level the score. The goal was scored by Andy McDonald through a spectacular backhand
shot that went flying into the back of the net. The period came to an end with the scores level as the Phoenix Coyotes made 10 goal attempts while the St. Louis Blues made 11 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw the Phoenix Coyotes shift gears early on which resulted in a goal in the 6th minute. Ray Whitney scored this goal through an extravagant flick shot that put the home team in the lead. The St. Louis Blues was able
to level the score once again with a goal in the 8th minute through David Backes but the Phoenix Coyotes scored 2 more goals to establish 2 goals lead to their advantage.
Ray Whitney scored the first of the 2 goals in the 11th minute through a decent strike and Martin Hanzell scored the second through a simple tip in shot in the 16th minute.
The final period of the match saw the St. Louis Blues trying hard to score as they made 18 goal attempts. They scored in the 19th minute to cut the lead to just one when Brad Boyes scored through a flick shot. However, the Phoenix Coyotes sealed
the win with a goal in the last minute by Ray Whitney to emerge victorious with the score 5-3 in their favour.
 
San Jose Sharks win 4-3 against the Calgary Flames
The San Jose Sharks was also in action this Saturday as they played host to the Calgary Flames at the HP Pavilion Arena in front of 18,000 fans. This was the 242nd game of the regular season and the 16th and the 15th game
for the Calgary Flames and the Sane Jose Sharks respectively.
The home team totally dominated the first period as they came up with quite a show at the end of the first 20 minutes of the game. They San Jose Sharks scored in the 2nd minute to take the lead with the goal scored by Joe Thornton through a decent
flick shot. The home team continued to put the pressure which resulted in the San Jose Sharks doubling the lead in the 11th minute through Ryane Clowe's goal.
The period ended as the home team led 2-0 going into the break making 17 goal attempts in the period while the Calgary Flames made 5 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw the away team quick out off the blocks as they scored in the 1st minute of the period to take the score to 2-1. Mark Giordano scored this goal through a simple flick shot. The home team made strong attacks after the
goal and responded to this with a goal in the 17th minute of the period with the goal scored by Joe Pavelski from a decent backhand shot. The period ended with the San Jose Sharks leading 3-1.
The final period of the match saw the Calgary Flames score in the 10th minute through Jay Bouwmeester from a strong strike but the San Jose Sharks scored in the 15th minute in response to this. The goal was scored by Logan Couture that
took the score to 4-2.
The final goal of the period and the match was scored in favour of the Calgary Flames who scored through Jarome Iginla. The match and the period ended with the Phoenix Coyotes winning 5-3.
