2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – defending champions, Chicago Blackhawks continue on the winning roads notching a clean sheet 4-0 win over the Colorado Avalanche
One of the eagerly anticipated matches in the season was the Chicago Blackhawks playing host to the Colorado Avalanche due to the close matches these teams had in the past. The match was played this Wednesday a huge 22,000 attendance was observed in the
match. This was the 644th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series which saw both teams coming up with some excellent plays and creating chances regularly.
However, the defending champions Chicago Blackhawks turned out to be the more productive side of the night winning the match 4-0. Corey Crawford, goal keeper of the Chicago Blackhawks was named the star selection of the match for the 24 saves he made and
kept the clean sheet intact.
Both teams started off strongly attacking right from the start and the way the game was being played goals were surely on the way. However, the goalie of the Chicago Blackhawks came up with an amazing performance as he stopped shots after shots.
Chicago Blackhawks got stronger and stronger on the attacks with the passage of time and created some open chances for themselves. Chicago Blackhawks with the positive approach to the game managed to score in the 8th minute through Troy Brouwer
from a backhand shot to take the lead.
Chicago Blackhawks with the very first play after restart managed to bag the puck once again to double their lead. The goal was scored by Dave Bolland from a well placed flick shot in the 8th minute once again. The period saw both teams coming
up with goal attempts till the very end of the period but no goals were scored as the Hawks lead 2-0 doing into the break.
During the course of the period Colorado Avalanche made 9 goal attempts while the Hawks made 7 goal attempts.
After Colorado Avalanche made a strong at the start of the second period but they failed to convert them into goals. Chances came and went for the away side but they didn’t score any goals. On the other hand, Chicago Blackhawks created chances for themselves
and in a hard fought battle with the Colorado defence, they managed to scored once again.
The goal was scored by Fernando Pisani from a decent strike in the 11th minute. Chicago Blackhawks was sky high on confidence after this but they too couldn’t score any further goals as the period ended with the Hawks leading 3-0 going into the
break. During the period Chicago Blackhawks made 13 goal attempts while Colorado Avalanche made 9 goal attempts.
The final period was a reflection of the second period where the Chicago Blackhawks made a slow start after which their game stronger and stronger. The smoothness in their play resulted in the home side bagging their fourth. The goal was scored by Jack Skille
from a brilliant backhand shot in the 9th minute.
The period saw the Hawks finish on high firing shots on goal but the match ended with the Chicago Blackhawks winning the match 4-0. During the course of final 20 minutes of play, Colorado made 6 goal attempts while Hawks made 11 goal attempts.
