2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series: defending champions Chicago Blackhawks taste from Edmonton Oilers 2-1
The 201st game of 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series saw defending champions Chicago Blackhawks play host to Edmonton Oilers this Sunday at United Centre in front of some 21,000 fans. This was Blackhawks' 17th while Oilers' 12th
game of the campaign thus far.
The away team made a decent start to 1st period as they fired shots at the opposing goal every now and then. They almost took the first lead in the 5th minute only to be denied by the goal posts.
Home team’s confidence also started to get on a high. Their hard work paid off as constant attacks saw them score in the 10th minute to take the first lead. The goal was scored by Fernando Pisani through a flick shot from 18 feet which went through
the legs of goal keeper and into the back of the net.
The 1st period ended with Blackhawks leading by 1-0 as they made 10 goal attempts while Oilers made 9.
The 2nd period saw frequent change in momentum and a tough battle at the defence as well as in the midfield. Both teams came up with flawless defences that resulted in no more goals being scored during the course of the 20 minutes.
The 2nd period ended with Blackhawks still leading by 1-0. Both teams made 8 goal attempts each.
The final period witnessed Oilers' attack-minded approach. Their strategy paid off as they levelled in the 8th minute. The goal was scored by Kurtis Foster through a powerful strike from 32 feet.
In the next play, Oilers scored once again to take the final lead. The 3rd goal of the match was scored by Sam Gagner via a simple tip in shot from close range. The period didn’t see any more goals as Oilers came up with an extravagant 2-1 win. In the same
period, Blackhawks made 9 goal attempts while Edmonton Oilers made 9.
