2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – weekend round up (Part 2)
Boston Bruins win 4-0 against the Ottawa Senators
The 145th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series took place at the Scotibank Arena, home of the Ottawa Senators. This was one match that was expected to be very exciting but it turned out to be a one sided game as the Boston Bruins thrashed
the Ottawa Senators 4-0. There were around 19,000 fans that came in support of their respective teams, as the Boston Bruins played their 8th game and the Ottawa Senators played the 11th game of their campaign thus far.
The 1st period saw the home team dominate the game but the Boston Bruins was the team that scored the only goal of the period. The goal was scored by David Krejci from 41 feet shot that was struck with a lot of power. After the goal, the home
team maintained a very tight and strong defence that didn’t allow any attacks. However, despite a very strong offence the home team was unable to score. Both teams went into the break with the Boston Bruins leading 1-0. During the period, the Boston Bruins
made 6 goal attempts and the Ottawa Senators made 12 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw the Boston Bruins put the foot on the gas and attack the Ottawa Senators. The bold decision of the Boston Bruins was rewarded in the 13th minute when they scored once again to double their lead. The goal was scored
by Tyler Seguin through a tip in from 9 feet. The goal didn’t stop the away team from attacking as they pushed forward in search of another goal. They were successful in doing so in the 19th minute. The goal was scored by Milan Lucic from 12 feet.
The period came to an end with the score 3-0 in favour of the Boston Bruins. During the period, the Boston Bruins scored twice out of the 12 goal attempts and the Ottawa Senators made 12 goal attempts without any goals.
The Boston Bruins continued to attack and they scored in the 10th minute to establish 4 goals to their advantage. The goal was scored by Jordan Caron from 10 feet through a flick shot. The period didn’t see any further goals as the Boston Bruins
won the match 4-0. During the period, the Boston Bruins made 7 goal attempts while scoring once and the home team made 5 goal attempts without goals.
Philadelphia Flyers win 6-1 against the New York Islanders
The away team was quick out of the blocks and they managed to score in the 3rd minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Kimmo Timonen from 14 feet through a flick shot. The match saw the home team dominate the proceedings as they scored
once again to double their lead. The goal was scored by Jeff Carter from a shot from 37 feet. The goal came in the 18th minute and the period ended with the teams going into the break with the Philadelphia Flyers leading 2-0.
The 2nd period saw the Philadelphia Flyers start off strongly once again as they scored in the 3rd minute through Jeff Carter’s backhand shot. Further pushing forward, the home team scored again to take the score to 4-0. The goal was
scored by Chris Pronger in the 5th minute from a flick shot. The away team managed to pull one back in the 9th minute to take the score to 4-1. The goal was scored by Nielsen from a spectacular backhand shot. The home team were able to
regain the 4 goals lead in the very minute when Chris Pronger scored once again. The goal was a result of 49 feet shot that went flying into the top right corner. The home team sealed the match with another goal in the 16th minute to take the score
line to 6-1. The goal was scored by Andreas Nodl from a decent shot from 12 feet. The score was still the same as the teams went into the break.
The final period didn’t see any goals although both teams came across numerous scoring chances. The match ended with the Philadelphia Flyers winning 6-1. During the final period, both teams made 10 goal attempts without any goals.
