Tampa Bay Lightning win 3-0 against the Phoenix Coyotes
The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Phoenix Coyotes each played the 10th game of their campaign this Saturday as they were up against each other. The game took place at the Jobing.com Arena, home of the Phoenix Coyotes. The game saw 8,000 fans come
to support their teams to cheer their team to a victory.
The 1st period of the match started slowly for both teams as they concentrated on maintaining a tight defence rather than attacking resultantly leaving open spaces at the back. The defensive mentality adopted by both teams saw both teams cancel
out each other. Consequently, no goals were scored during the course of the period as both teams went into the break deadlocked at 0-0. During the period, the Phoenix Coyotes made 6 goal attempts and the Tampa Bay Lightning made 7 goal attempts but none of
the shots found the back of the net.
The 2nd period was no different from the 1st period. The period started off in the same style as the last one but it picked up some pace as time passed. The teams started to come up with good pieces of place and venomous shots that
were hit with a lot of power. The away team was able to break the deadlock in the 16th minute and take the lead. The goal was scored by Mattias Ritola from 8 feet through a spectacular shot. Both teams had more chances but no further goals were
witnessed as the teams went into the break with score 1-0 in favour of the away team. During the period, the Tampa Bay Lightning made 10 goal attempts and the Phoenix Coyotes made 7 goal attempts.
The final period saw the Tampa Bay Lightning dictate the period from the start. The dominating performance saw the Tampa Bay Lightning double their lead in the 6th minute. The goal was scored by Adam Hall from 11 feet through a simple tip in shot.
The Tampa Bay Lightning continued to put the pressure in search of another goal. They were successful in the search as they scored their 3rd goal of the match in the 15th minute to seal the win. The goal was scored by Steven Stamkos from
a backhand shot 11 feet away from goal. The period and match ended with the Tampa Bay Lightning winning the match 3-0.
San Jose Sharks win 5-2 against the Anaheim Ducks
The San Jose Sharks played host to the Anaheim Ducks this past Saturday at the HP Pavilion Centre.
The game started off extravagantly for the San Jose Sharks as they scored in the 1st minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Dany Heatley through a backhand shot from 12 feet. The period moved on with the home team coming across more chances.
The San Jose Sharks was able to double the lead in the 5th minute when Logan Couture scored. The goal was a result of a splendid strike from 36 feet that went flying into the back of the net.
The 2nd period saw the San Jose Sharks scored 3 goals to seal the match taking the score to 5-0. The first goal was scored by Dany Heatley from a powerful shot in the 3rd minute. The 2nd goal of the period was scored in the
13th minute by Niclas Wallin’s shot from 8 feet that went in after a deflection. The 3rd and final goal of the period came in the 16th minute through a spectacular shot by Patrick Marleau. The period came to an end with the
San Jose Sharks establishing a strong and healthy lead.
The final period saw the home team not attack or defend like the previous 2 period taking the game on the lighter side. The period saw its first 1st goal in the 5th minute in favour of the Anaheim Ducks. The goal was scored by Captain
Ryan Getzlaf, who scored from 10 feet to pull one goal back. The final goal of the match also came in favour of the Anaheim Ducks. The goal was scored by 12th minute through Corey Perry’s shot. But it was too little too late as the San Jose Sharks
won the match 5-2.
