Ottawa Senators win 2-0 against the Boston Bruins
The 223rd match of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series saw the Ottawa Senators play the Boston Bruins. The match was played at TD Garden, home of the Boston Bruins in front of 18,000 fans this Saturday.
Both the teams made an explosive start to the match as they came up with shots every now and then. They dominated the possession and at the end of the play fired a shot with a lot of venom. Though both the teams had the share of the chances but the Ottawa
Senators was the one, who scored the only goal of the period.
The goal was scored in the 10th minute through a spectacular shot that was perfectly placed by Erik Karlsson. Both the teams had numerous chance but they couldn’t score as the period saw the Ottawa Senators leading as the teams went into the break.

The 2nd period was no different from the 1st period as there were scoring opportunities for both teams once again. The disappointing thing in the period was the fact that no goal was scored despite open chances for both teams.

Buffalo Sabres win 3-2 against the Washington Capitals after overtime
The 234th game of the regular season was played at the HSBC Arena as the Buffalo Sabres played host to the Washington Capitals. The match was played in front of 19,000 fans this Saturday.
The Washington Capitals put the foot on the gas right from the word go and came up with several shots on goal early on. They made attacks regularly coupled with the decent defence they maintained at the back. The strong defence that restricted the opposing
team to their half enabled the Capitals to score in the 9th minute to take the lead.
The goal was scored by Karl Alzner through a decent strike that went flying into the net. The period saw the Capitals coming across more goal scoring chances but they couldn’t score as the period ended with the Capitals leading 1-0. During the period the
Washington Capitals made 13 goal attempts while the Buffalo Sabres made 6 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw the Buffalo Sabres score twice in the period to take the lead. The first goal that levelled the score was scored by Steve Montador through a decent strike. With the scores level, the Sabres pressed on in search of another goal
and were successful in scoring to take the lead. The goal was scored by Thomas Vanek in the 17th minute during power play.
The period came to an end with the Buffalo Sabres leading 2-1. During the period, the Sabres made 11 goal attempts while the Washington Capitals made 4 goal attempts.
Both the teams made a cautious start to the final period as they attacked only if open spaces developed. The final period saw the Washington Capitals score to level the match. The goal was scored by Nicklas Backstorm through a flick shot.
