Philadelphia Flyers win 5-2 against Florida Panthers
The 237th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series took place at the Wells Fargo Centre, home of the Philadelphia Flyers. The match was played in front of 20,000 fans this past Sunday as the Florida Panthers played their 15th game
while the Philadelphia Flyers played their 17th game of the campaign thus far.
The Florida Panthers made a great start to the match as they fired shots at the opposing goal every now and then. They came across scoring opportunities but were unable to score to take the lead. The home team took advantage of the fact and gained confidence
with the slow progress they made.
The constant attacks and hard work resulted in a goal in the 13th minute for the home team, Philadelphia Flyers. The goal was scored by Mike Richards through a powerful strike. The home team kept the pressure and managed to double the lead with
a goal in the 16th minute. Scott Hartnell scored the goal through a simple tip in shot.
Both the teams went into the break with the Flyers leading 2-0 as they made 18 goal attempts and the Florida Panthers made 11 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw the home team continue its dominating performance, which resulted in the home team scoring thrice during the 2nd period. Mike Richards scored the first goal in the 8th minute through a powerful strike. The 2nd goal

Claude Giroux scored once again in the 12th minute to further strengthen their lead and finally Cory Stillman scored the final goal of the period through a backhand shot in favour of the Florida Panthers.
The period went into the break with the Philadelphia Flyers leading 5-1. The Flyers made 19 goal attempts while the Florida Panthers made 13 goal attempts.
The final goal of the period saw the home team come up with good early attempts but the away team finished the match on a high. The Florida Panthers scored in the 18th minute to take the score to 5-2. The goal was scored by Mike Santorelli through a powerful
strike as the match came to an end.
Pittsburgh Penguins win 4-2 against the Atlanta Thrashers
The 238th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series was played at the Philips Arena as the Atlanta Thrashers played host to the Pittsburgh Penguins. This was the 18th game for the Pittsburgh Penguins and the 17th game
for the Atlanta Thrashers.
The Atlanta Thrashers made a great start to the match and scored in the 3rd minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Brent Sopel through a simple tip in shot. Both the teams had several goal scoring opportunities but no further goals were
seen during the 20 minutes of the period as the teams went into the break with the score 1-0.
The first period saw the Penguins making 10 goal attempts while the Atlanta Thrashers made 12 goal attempts.
The 2nd period saw the home team start off in a similar fashion to the previous period but they were unable to bag a goal this time out. However, the Penguins scored in the 14th minute to level the score. The goal was scored by Evgeni
Malkin through a powerful strike from long range. The period ended with the score level at 1-1 with both the teams making 7 goal attempts.
The final period of the match saw the Pittsburg Penguins score in the 3rd minute to take the lead. Captain Sidney Crosby scored the goal through a simple tip in shot. The away team pressed on in search of another goal and scored in the 5th minute
to take the score to 4-2. The goal was scored by Evgeni Malkin in form of a decent tip in shot that was perfectly placed.
Though the Atlanta Thrashers pulled one goal back as they scored in the 11th minute through Niclas Bergfors’s tip in shot, the Pittsburgh Penguins sealed the match with a goal in the 19th minute to register a win with 5-2 on the scoreboard. The
final period saw the Atlanta Thrashers making 14 goal attempts while the Pittsburgh Penguins made 11 goal attempts.
