2010 FedEx Cup Playoffs at Atlanta and the top one-third players’ list (Part 1)
Things are much easier to deal with when they are still simple. Similarly, determining the winner from a battlefield of 30 seems easier than the one with 60 or 70. Having said this, it is none other than Atlanta, where the final quarter of the 2010 FedEx
Cup Playoffs would be taking place.
While considering the number of players expected to contest the Cup, picking the winner amongst them appears to be comparatively less difficult. Most people would find this situation less complicated as deciding from the one or two guys, who dominate the
scene, doesn’t have all that shimmer.
Regarding the championship due in Atlanta, only a few players have been able to reach the top of their game. There are a lot of players in the 30 players list who ended up backing into the event as an alternative of averring a spot and hence weren’t able
to make their way through. These include J.B Holmes, Rory Mcllory, Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler, Stewart Clink, David Toms, Anthony Kim and Ian Poulter while the four players, who displayed strong performances, are Kevin Na, K.J Choi, Camilo Villegas and Ryan
Moore.
Now, with a prize of $10 million for the winner, the 30 player index gives us a glimpse of the top one-third pros. The shriveled number of golfers appearing may make it easy to decide who will win, but it would still need a lot of assessment.
For instance, Ernie Els has had a good year till now. He makes it to the top one-third list for he may still be walking away with the player of the year title if not the Cup. His other recent performances might have been a bit subdued over the stretch but
on tour, he has had a good year. Critics don’t really put him on the top spot for the winning but they do place him in the top three spots.
The all-tour-round threat, Phil Mickelson, has the other players wondering whether he may claim the Cup or not. He is the type of player who can easily give the crowd a heart attack with his exceptional game or else with turning his game off in an instant.
Give him a tournament and you’ll see him on the top any time. His latest shining performance was at the BMW Championship held in Chicago. At present, no one seems sure whether he’ll make use of the opportunities at hand or end up wasting them. Neither are
we and that’s why, he makes it into the top one-third.
Justin Rose and Bubba Watson also cannot be missed at all from the top one-third pros. Rose had played exceptionally well in the early summer but then faltered a bit later on in the season. He might still make it to the top provided the recent subversion
that took place with him at the European Ryder Cup Team led by Colin Montgomerie. Keeping the betrayal in mind, the roses don’t smell much sweeter at this side of the field. Instead, they look dangerous.
Watson, on the other hand, has been seen playing confidently all season. He has the ability to play extremely well at the long courses hence he makes it to the top one-third list.
