2010 FedEx Cup Playoffs at Atlanta and the top one-third players’ list (Part 2)
Contd…..
For the expected top one-third list of professional golfers, Luke Donald cannot be ignored either. Although, he didn’t achieve any wins this year but still he did show a remarkable consistency in his performances. Donald’s recent history and inclusion in
the upcoming Ryder Cup event pave the way for his inclusion into the top one-third list also. The 32-year-old appears to be standing close to a good season finish as he already has 2 second and 2 third places finishes at hand.
When discussing Dustin Johnson and Tim Clark, DJ seems to be an apparent contender but Clark may look to be a long shot for many. Clark is well-known for his huge swinging ability. The golfer from South Africa has had a strong year as he achieved victory
in the Player’s Championship while a 2nd place finish in 2010 which, according to many, makes him a Dark Horse in the white ball battle field.
On the other hand, DJ seems to be the favorite this season and most regard him as a ‘smart’ pick. Considering both the prizes at hand; he can walk away with both. Johnson is a golfer who can easily be a good choice and is thus one of the few guys who can
actually win the Tour Championship and also the FedEx Cup. The win at hand will move DJ into the contenders list for the player of the year award also. Earlier, he had ended with an 81 shot at the US Open. DJ really made everyone dance to the What Bunker?
Tune at the PGA Championship floors.
Meanwhile, Steve Stricker, Matt Kucher and Paul Casey are the top three choices for the winner of the event. Stricker can’t be voted against at all due to his consistent, well dressed and may we say a boring display. He has had a game which waned in the
early year but can win tri-fecta exactly like Johnson. Steve has competed in all 52 rounds of the 13 PGA Tour Play-offs. He has ended in the top 25 periphery only once and that also was at last year’s BMW Championship.
Matt Kuchar is the kind of player who can win the FedEx Cup easily and so, he makes it to the top one-third professionals. He is currently displaying a good game and also has a previous performance that makes him a good choice in the upcoming race after
the cup at Atlanta. Kuchar is a golfer who will test his chances on the Tour Championship as well as in Wales. He finished the previous BMW Championship with 6 under and was tied at the third spot. With his previous performances, Kuchar is a likely candidate
who can win all three, The Tour Championship, FedEx Cup and the Player of the year award.
Finally, at the top of the list is a man who has been in some sort of controversy after Colin Montgomerie left him out of the Ryder Cup Team. Paul Casey’s lead by three strokes on 12th had him and the tournament in good terms while his second
place at the BMW Championship placed him at the 7th place but he still wobbled a little bit at the back nine.
The Year 2007 at the East Lake Golf Club faced meagre greens. The pro-am and practice rounds were cancelled so that the greens could be saved. The bentgrass greens were also converted to Bermuda grass. According to Ralph Kepple, they need one rainfall for
the game at Atlanta but currently none is in sight. He said that it had last rained there on 19th August, 2010.
