2010 NFL Week 13: Cleveland Browns at Miami Dolphins - Preview
Cleveland Browns will go on the road to take Miami Dolphins in an NFL pro football game on 5 December.
These two American Football Conference teams are meeting for the first time since the 2007 season, when Browns earned a 41-31 victory at Dolphins.
Browns take a trip to Miami with an overall record of 4-7 on the season. The Cleveland posts an average of 19 points and 310 yards per game.
Browns are 1-4 and hit the road for the sixth time on the year. Their only road win came six weeks ago in a 30-17 victory at New Orleans.
Browns came off a 24-23 victory on 28 November against Carolina Panthers. The Cleveland produced 379 yards and converted on 4 of 11 on third down. They ran the ball efficiently with 152 yards on 32 carries for almost 5 yards per rush. Browns gave three turnovers
and took just 1 away from Carolina.
Making his first appearance since replacing the injured quarterback Seneca Wallace in a loss to Atlanta Falcons on 10 October, Quarterback Jake Delhomme filled in for rookie starter Colt McCoy and went 24 of 35 through the air for 245 yards with no touchdowns
and 2 picks.
Running back Peyton Hillis was stupendous, rushing 26 times for 131 yards and three touchdowns (TDs) and adding 63 yards on six receptions. His three rushing TDs raised his season total to 11, joining the exclusive company of Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly.
Wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi had 52 receiving yards on 4 catches while wide receiver Brian Robiskie led the receiving corps with 7 catches for 50 yards.
Defensively, Cleveland gave up 20 points and 356 yards. They allowed 326 yards to Carolina offense and 7 of 15 conversions on third down. Cleveland were weak against the run allowing their National Football Conference South Division opponents to run for
151 yards on 27 carries for over 5 ½ yards per gain.
Dolphins are back at home as they sport a record of 6-5 on the season. Miami put up 18 points and 341 yards per game.
Dolphins play at home for the 6th time this season where they are poor 1-4. Dolphin’s sole home victory came in a 29-17 decision against Tennessee Titans on 14 November.
The Dolphins defeated Oakland Raiders 33-17 in 2010 regular season Week 12 action.
Miami gained 471 yards and converted on 9 of 19 on third down against the Raiders defence on 28 November. Miami finally found their running game by efficiently producing 186 yards on 49 carries for almost 4 yards per rush. Miami eclipsed time of possession
by a 41 ½ -18 ½ minute margin.
Quarterback Chad Henne completed 17 of his 30 passing attempts for 307 yards with two touchdowns and 1 pick against Raiders' fifth-ranked passing defence despite playing with a bum knee.
On the ground, Ricky Williams rushed 20 times for 95 yards and a score for the Dolphins (6-5), who won for the fifth time in six road games to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Running back Ronnie Brown rushed for 85 yards on 24 carries and wide receiver Davone Bess led the team with 6 catches for 111 yards in his first game as a pro in his hometown.
Defensively, Miami have been ranked sixth in NFL allowing 305.3 yards per game this season, and 263.3 over the last three contests.
Dolphins actually looked pretty impressive on their road trip to Oakland last weekend when they crushed the Raiders run game by allowing only 16 yards on 12 carries. Dolphins took away three turnovers and gave just 1 back to Raiders.
