2010 Ryder Cup: Mike Brothers has eyes on Luke Donald
Mike Brothers has his eyes on Luke Donald, the junior role model, at the 2010 Ryder Cup.  Luke Donald’s potential was first determined when he aged just 12. Today, he is the Ryder Cup star who made above the cut and above the rest. According to Mike, Donald’s
game speaks of the potential he holds and his skills have always destined him to be a cut above the rest of the golfers.
Mike Brothers is the Beaconsfield PGA Professional who met Luke Donald the first time, when he was only 12 years old. He recalls that time and says that Donald has always been exceptional as well as the unique one in all juniors that he met. Brothers, 66,
will be retiring at the end of the year. His golf career started in 1978 at the Beaconsfield.
Of course in 1978, Brothers didn’t have an idea of the star that was born. A decade later however, he saw the natural talent this young player held. The natural ability the something year old possessed at that time obviously still prevails and has now enabled
him to play at the 2010 Ryder Cup starting on 1st October 2010. He was one of the captain’s pick.
Brothers feels that Donald is a man who is comfortable in his own skin as even at 12, he had his goal to play a longer goal. Donald had come from Hazlemere and was already a single handicap. What stood out for Brothers was that even though the handicap made
him shine he still remained the man he is.
It also appears that what Donald does, has his reasons behind. Brothers added that the something year old was a highly determined and hardworking player as he was always practicing. His intensity was at its peak when he was in his school days. When he was
capped by England, everyone could see this young player was headed somewhere, which was good.
Of course, Donald’s game wasn’t all-that perfect; he had problems too. Brothers maintained that whenever this happened, Donald dealt with it straight-on by working on further improving the game. By the time Donald left for his university, he had dealt with
most of the problems and ended up a freshman being a plus golfer.  After graduating, Donald was a player who was easily noticeable.
Meanwhile, Donald’s brother, Christian, is a PGA professional who caddied for him at the USPGA Tour as well as the Ryder Cup in 2006. He is an honorary member of the Beaconsfield and tells that before any round, Donald would be the only one stretching and
warming up.
The Chicago-based star has a lot of respect for Brothers and he always makes an effort to maintain contact with him. Whenever time allows the something year old, he always manages to call back to the club and cache up with Brothers. Other than calling back
to the club, Donald has also managed to stay in contact via email.
Brothers says that nearly all the juniors have Donald as their ideal player. Given the way this something year old carries himself, the juniors cannot find a finer role model. Now Brothers is waiting for Donald’s performance at the Ryder Cup. He will be
playing for the American team led by Corey Pavin at the Celtic Manor.
