2010 Shanghai Rolex Masters 1000: Andy Murray canters through to championship final

Britain's Andy Murray annihilated Argentina's Juan Monaco in the semi-finals of the 2010 Shanghai Rolex Masters 1000 to make a place for himself in the championship final. Seeded no. 4 at the tournament, Murray initiated the match with a 6-4 win in the first
set, followed by a 6-1 win in the second.

Prior to being eliminated from the tournament, Monaco defeated Austria's Jurgen Melzer to face Andy in the semis. After going nip and tuck in the first set, Melzer managed to bag it 7-6, based upon his tie-break win. Furthermore, the Argentinean responded with
a 7-5 win in the second set, and finally brought the match to an end, taking the decider, 6-2.

Meanwhile, Murray got through with Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, defeating him 6-2 and 6-2, to mark a straight set quarter-final win. Earlier, Tsonga eliminated Germany's Florian Mayer to oppose the Briton in the quarters. Florian was beaten 7-5 and 6-3, two
sets in a row to be sent home.

Qualifier Jeremy Chardy faced defeat at the hands of Andy in the third round of the championship. Murray got off to a good start, taking the first set 6-3 and additionally, went on to take the second set 6-4 to advance at the tournament.

Earlier to competing in the third round, Chardy got rid of Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov in the second round. The Frenchman started the match of with a 6-1 win in the first set. However, Dolgopolov reciprocated, bagging the second set 7-5. The deciding third
set nevertheless, went in favour of Jeremy, as he took it 6-2.

Upon receiving a bye into the second round of the tournament, Andy was opposed by wild card entrant, China's Bai Yan. Yan however, proved incapable of making it through to the next round, as Murray took the match based on a 6-2 win in the first, followed by
a 6-2 win in the second set of the match.

The Chinese professional deleted the Czech Republic's Radek Štěpánek in the first round of the tournament to oppose Andy in the second. Marking a straight set win, Bai defeated Radek, taking the first set 6-3 and the following set 6-4.
Furthermore, Murray will be opposed by Swiss man Roger Federer in the championship final. Federer eliminated Serbia's Novak Djokovic, defeating him 7-5 in the first set and 6-4 in the second to make it through to the finals.
