2010 Shanghai Rolex Masters 1000: Roger Federer 'Tweener's' his way through to championship final
Switzerland's Roger Federer stormed his way into the final of the 2010 Shanghai Rolex Masters 1000, defeating Serbia's Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of the tournament. Roger instantly exercised his authority on the game, taking the first set 7-5. Unfortunately
for Djoko, in spite of his constant struggle, the Serb lost the second set 4-6 to Federer.
Prior to facing defeat at the hands of the Swiss man, Djokovic eliminated Spain's Guillermo García-López in the quarter-finals of his draw. Nole initiated the match with a 6-2 win in the first set and furthermore, won the second set 6-3.
Along the side of which, seeded no. 3 at the tournament, Federer got through with Sweden's Robin Soderling, beating him 6-1 and 6-1, to mark a straight set quarter-final victory. Soderling faced Federer upon defeating Spain's David Ferrer 7-5 and 6-4 in the
third round.
Roger thrashed Italy's Andreas Seppi in the third round of the championship, only to take the match based on his 6-3 win in the first set, followed by a 6-4 one in the second. Seppi got rid of China's Lu Yen-Hsun, in the second round, earlier to facing Federer
in the third. Yen-Hsun was beaten 7-6 in the first set and 6-3 in the second.
Upon receiving a bye into the second round, the Swiss man was opposed by America's John Isner. Roger annihilated Isner, taking the first set 6-3 and the second set 6-4 to advance at the tournament.
The unseeded American faced qualifier, Poland's Lukasz Kubot in the first round of the tournament, to make it through to the second. Kubot got off to a good start, taking the first set 6-4. However, that seemed to have been all he had to offer, as Isner responded
with a 7-6 win in the second, followed by a 7-6 one in the deciding third set of the match.
Furthermore, Federer will be opposed by Britain's Andy Murray in the championship final. Murray battled it out with Argentina's Juan Monaco for a place in the finals. The brief two set tussle was brought to an end, just as Andy took the game based upon his
6-4 win in the first set and 6-1 win in the second.
Considering the fact that the Swiss man got his revenge on Djokovic, turning the tables on him shortly after losing to the Serb at the 2010 U.S. Open, there's no stopping him now. However, Murray has shown limitless potential throughout the 2010 tennis season,
therefore, the match could quite possibly go in anybody's favour.
