2010 Shanghai Rolex Masters 1000: Second Round Qualifiers (Part 1)

Top seed Rafael Nadal was amongst those to have made it through to the third round of the 2010 Shanghai Rolex Masters 1000. Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka's reign came to an end when Nadal thrashed the Swiss 6-4 and 6-4, to cruise through to the following
round.

Rafa will now face Austria's Jurgen Melzer, who defeated lucky loser Daniel Gimeno-Traver from Spain in the second round of the championship. The Spaniard was sent home after losing the first set 6-3 and the second set 7-6, despite levelling the game with Melzer.

Argentina's Juan Monaco will now face German qualifier Mischa Zverev in the third round of his draw. Earlier to making it through, Monaco eliminated Dutchman Thiemo de Bakker in the second round. De Bakker took the first set 6-2. However, the second set went
in favour of the Argentine as he took it, 6-3. Furthermore, Juan took the deciding third set 6-4, to advance at the tournament.

Surprisingly, defending champion Russia's Nikolay Davydenko failed to make it past the second round, as Zverev triumphed over him with a straight set win. The German took the first set 6-4. Davydenko managed to remain evenly contested with Mischa in the second
set, as the two were tied at 6-6. The match nevertheless, went in favour of Zverev, as he took the final set 7-6.

Britain's Andy Murray got rid of China's Bai Yan, defeating him 6-2 and 6-2 in the second round. The fourth seed will now face Frenchman Jeremy Chardy in the third round of the tournament. Chardy eliminated Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov after engaging in a
three set tussle, to make it through to the next round.

Chardy initiated the match with a 6-1 win in the first set. However, Dolgopolov turned the tables on the Frenchman by taking the second set, 7-5. Jeremy however, bagged the decider based upon his 6-2 win.

Along the side of which, Germany's Florian Mayer got through with Russia's Mikhail Youzhny to make a place for himself in the third round. Mayer took the first set 6-4, right before Youzhny bounced back with a 7-6 win. It was nevertheless, the German that came
out victorious, taking the third set 6-1.
Florian will be opposed by Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the third round of his draw. Prior to making it through, Tsonga thrashed America's Sam Querrey, two sets in a row to advance at the tournament. Querrey lost 7-6 and 6-1 to be eliminated from the
championship.
