The second ranked Serbian Novak Djokovic has made his way into the semi-finals of the 2010 Shanghai Rolex Masters men’s singles competition after getting the better of Guillermo Garcia- Lopez of Spain in two sets on Friday. The final match score was 6-2

In spite of the fact that the 23-year-old Djokovic didn’t start well and it looked as if Guillermo Garcia Lopez might pose some serious problems, it was smooth sailing for the Serbian. Djokovic turned up to the match in an aggressive mood and comfortably
subdued his Spanish tennis foe in straight sets on Friday to advance into the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 competition in Shanghai.
The owner of two Grand Slam titles in his career is coming off his final appearance at the 2010 China Open in Beijing where the right hander was seeded number one to defend his title. He did well to reach the final round after beating Mao-Xin Gong, Mardy
Fish, John Isner as well as Gilles Simon. In the title battle, he met Spain’s David Ferrer and comfortably overpowered him in two sets to win the title on second occasion in a row. The final match score was 6-2, 6-4.
Prior to his Beijing appearance, Djokovic helped his country beat Czech Republic and advance into the finals of the Davis Cup this season after ending as runners up in the year’s final Grand Slam, the United States Open in New York. He reached the title
battle after surpassing Roger Federer in the semi-final round in five sets. The final match score was 5-7, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 and finally 7-5. In the final, the Serbian was defeated by Rafael Nadal in four sets, allowing the Spaniard to complete a career Grand
Slam.
Djokovic in his today’s match secured the breaks on a consistent basis without any trouble, as Garcia-Lopez didn’t look impressive throughout the battle. The Serbian on the other hand, served quite well and won 71% of his opening serves to stay ahead right
from the start on Friday. He blasted a total of 17 winners and just committed 17 unforced errors in comparison to his opponent’s twenty seven to seal victory comfortably in the end.
Earlier in the day, the world number four Andy Murray smoothly cruised into the final four in China after brushing aside his French foe, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in two sets on Friday. The score line was 6-2 and 6-2.
