2010 St. Petersburg Open Men’s Singles: Tuesday’s Preview
A total of five Russian players will take the centre court on Tuesday at the 2010 St. Petersburg Open Men’s Singles Competition in Russia.
In the day's opening clash, the twenty five year old Konstantin Kravchuk, a qualifier from Russia will meet another qualifier from Czech Republic, Framtisek Cermak on the first occasion in his career. Both are attempting to triumph in their first ATP World
Tour clash on the year.
The twenty five year old Konstantin, who turned professional back in 2004, is currently ranked number 132 in the world by the Association of Tennis Professionals. He achieved his career high ranking of world number 130 earlier this month. The Russian is
looking to win his first ATP World Tour title on the tour.
The right handed Framtisek, who is currently ranked number 830 on the tour, enters with a match record of 0-1 on the season. The Kostice resident turned professional back in 1998 and enjoys a good doubles record with twenty two titles to his name.
Next up is the nineteen year old Andrey Kuznetsov, a wild card entrant who will take on Evgeny Donskoy in the first ever ATP World Tour meeting on Tuesday. They previously played in back to back Future competitions in Kazakhstan with each contender triumphing
in straight sets.
Kuznetsov is currently ranked number 198 in the world. He enters with a match record of 1-3 on the season. The right hander made his first main draw major appearance at the grass court Grand Slam tournament in London this season where he was defeated at
the hands of Victor Hanescu of Romania in a five setter epic. He achieved his career high ranking of world number 166 back in August.
Donskoy, another Russian who is twenty years old is ranked number 260 and is looking to breakthrough on the tour.
Igor Kunitsyn and Janko Tipsarevic will play in the third match of the competition on Tuesday. World number 106 Igor had earlier reached the quarter final round in Moscow where he was defeated by Denis Istomin, as his best result of the season. The twenty
nine year old Russian enters with a match record of 6-13 on the season and achieved his career high ranking of world number thirty five back in 2009. Igor is coming off his doubles title victory in Moscow last week and will be hoping for his second win in
as many clashes versus Janko. He along with his partner Tursunov knocked down Janko and Troicki in the doubles final in Moscow.
The Serbian tennis ace Janko had advanced into the finals in Hertogenbosch, semi finals in Chennai and Los Angeles as well as quarter finals in Dubai and Washington earlier in 2010. He enjoys a match record of 22-20 on the year and is ranked forty six on
the tour.
The day's concluding match will highlight Dmitry Tursunov and Michal Przysiezny of Poland in their first ever meeting on the ATP World Tour. The twenty eight year old Tursunov posted his season best run by reaching the quarter final round at the Japan Open
where he was given a beating by the World number one, Rafael Nadal in Tokyo. He enters with a match record of 3-7 on the year and is currently ranked 264 on the tour.
The world number ninety one Przysiezny has a win loss mark of 2-14 in 2010 and will definitely look to kick start his tournament’s campaign with the help of an impressive win over Dmitry.
