Call it his fault or call it a bad year, let’s face it, 2010 just wasn’t Tiger Woods year.
The current spell had been nothing more than a bad stretch for the 34-year-old and with Tiger ruling the headlines more than the leader boards, it seems like he would be as glad as we are for this year to end.
Nevertheless, where this year bought bad news for Tiger and his fans, it had been a bit rewarding for the former champion as well. Amidst all the doom and gloom, the tournament losses and the bad headlines, Woods still managed to walk with his head high
collecting some top moments from this year.
Managing the dirty laundry:
If Tiger loses a fan, golf loses one too and he is not going to let that happen.
If you can relate the word private with any golfer, then that’s Woods. Albeit all the commotion in his life, fans and critics alike thought Tiger might disappear completely from the scene but surprisingly, he did the complete opposite.
The man whose favourite answer had been ‘next question’ in his press conferences decided to finally step out in public to clean his own mess.
Basically Woods is a highly private person who preferred making appearance at only the most necessary conferences but with his life turning a new direction the thirty-four year old decided it’s time to gather the fans he lost and prove that he’s still human.
So what happened here is that Woods joined Twitter, which is obviously pretty groundbreaking for the golfer amidst the 2010 humiliation.
“I just completed a cardio session earlier this morning because of all the apple and pumpkin pie I ate, hope the thanksgiving had been great for everybody," Tweeted the Tiger.
Loyalty at its peak:
Where Tiger managed to grab some of his fans back, Steve Williams stood by him even in the most difficult days.
Who is Steve Williams? He is a man who handed NZ $1 million to a cancer ward at Starship Children's Health in 2008; who didn’t get along with Phil Mickelson in the same year and switched places with Mike "Fluff" Cowan as Woods caddie in 1999. He is a friend
of Tiger, who is still standing by him even in his most trying times.
According to rumours, Williams and Tiger were reported to part ways in near future but according to Williams, these are at the end of the day, just rumours.
“He one of the greatest players ever I can work with, he’s out to get Jack Nicklaus’ record,” said the caddie.
In a recent interview to the press, Williams removed all the earlier stated doubts with only one question: “Why would I quit when his career is in full flow?"
As for Tiger, William for him is one of the best caddies and a great friend who had been the only stable thing in his life this year.
“There is no doubt that he is an amazing caddie,” he said.
The constant change:
His changes in life may be uncontrollable, but his drive to succeed and the clutch putts are not.
With nearly everything working against him, his most trusted putter, Scotty Cameron also joined the deceit squad.
The 34-year-old recognised this when his putts got out of control earlier this year which made him leave all-that behind as well.
The change started from the British Open where the new Nike Method Putter was seen aiming the flagstick rather than his favourite, Scotty Cameron. With the recent changes, Woods thus displayed his desire to thrive in every race and improving his impressive
PGA Tour record.
With the new season beginning soon, let’s see how far the Nike Method makes it.
